I've had the spanner light on for about a year now.I made the mistake of taking it to D&G Autos because they advertised that they did diagnostics. After cleaning all the breathers, replacing the lamda sensor twice and the airflow mass sensor they had to admit they didn't know how to fix it. I just ignored the light and the car is running fine.Just recently the spanner light went out and the Emissions light came on.,the car is still running ok but I'd like to get it sorted. Is there anybody within a 50 mile radius of Livingston,West Lothian who has a "Tech 2" and knows how to use it?
-
What engine?
Hotel21 is the only Scot I know with a Tech2. He can use it though :y
-
And I believe he is only the other side of the bridge, not that my Jockular geography is any good :-[
-
Jock geography of the south is similar apparently - H21,s employer has sent him to southend today, which he has now discovered is in Woodford,Epping. ;D ;D

That I know, but I strongly suspect that Highlander will not stay down here for long... ...the hagis is horrible, and the malts are too expensive (and is only the shite they send to the English ;D)

Thanks for the help.
I thought my car was on my profile but it wasn't.Sorted now!
I have sent a message to Hotel21.
I'll keep you posted.

The retail park/cinema at Halbeath, Dunfermline, looks about half way between us then. Busy for the next few days but possibly available sunday lunchtime/early afternoon?

Thanks for your help Bruce.
The spanner light came back on after about 4 miles but at least now I know it's nothing serious.
The emissions light has stayed off and I've filled up with V-power to see if that helps.
Once again thanks Bruce, you're a gentleman.

What was the fault?

Bruce?

I really wish I had written the codes we found down.... :-[
Think there was a 403 for the EGR but cant remember if it was present or historic. Reasonably sure it was historic.
The drivers door solenoid one was present as I remember telling you and you confirmed it was faulty but nothing to do with the running issue.
Pretty sure the lambda was showing as historic but, given that its been replaced with a copy then a genuine lambda, not surprising, hence saying about the issue with the 3.2's and supermarket fuels versus optimax or vpower.
Also had the SVS warning as well as a CANBUS or similar comms issue to gearbox, as I remember saying explaining how to check and top up the 'box level.
All codes were cleared so might be worth a reread to see whats truly there and active within the past few days.

Indeed :y
The CAN SVS errors mean its worth reading gearbox and ABS codes as well :y
-
If Jock can get the box level checked/topped up can reread codes this weekend, if he's available? Would save wrapping and sending the door check strap washer, now that I've found them! ;D
-
I've not had a chance to top up and check the gearbox fluid level yet.
I won't be available this weekend,I'm on 12 hour shifts Friday to Sunday.
If I get the gearbox topped up before next weekend I'll give you a shout and see if you're available.
-
Why not try to make a mini meet of it - I've allocated plenty of server storage in anticipation of another Jockular Omegas thread ;D
-
The door strap washer arrived today, thanks Bruce.
The weather has prevented me from checking the oil level, but I will as soon as the snow melts.
