Post by: big mel on 25 November 2011, 17:18:52
hi. are led bulbs safe to use in mig stop/tail flashers & internal lights? I am thinking of re-placeing mine are there any mig owners that have them fitted? tia. mel.

just fit a standard bulb, in the 7 years I've owned my 2.2, I've never had to replace any bulbs in the rear cluster, only ever had 1 dipped beam bulb blow

I'm sure they'll be 'safe' to use, but I wouldn't be surprised if they upset the lamp check system & upset the flash rate of the indicators - some have inbuilt resistors, others don't.  :y :y

Resistors will be needed for the flashers, but not the stop and tail.

Apart from the bulb monitoring circuits generally not liking them, I personally would not fit LED bulbs, as from the extensive research we have done with both clear and coloured LED replacements behind clear and coloured lenses, they are just not as bright as conventional bulbs.

Other thing I would suggest, is to replace (when you need to) with a branded bulb like "Ring" as they seem to be of a higher quality than most of the Chinese tat that is out there.

Hi  i have done this to my omega...blue l e d  panel lights and white side lamps...they were quite expensive...and a complete  waste of time and money....stick to the originals as they are far brighter and better.. :y
