Hi.
I have a 2.2 TDI CDX manual. I was having a shufty under the bonnet the other day whilst polishing. and I noticed that I am developng a leak from the turbo seal, (Black Stuff slightly covering the outer turbo casing, its only ever so slight at the moment, my mate next door said I will have to remove the turbo and send it away to be sealed. can anybody please tell me if this is a big job. I was a mechanic years ago but have never attempted a Turbo removal. (I am 58 and they didnt really have turbos on motors in my day) will I be able to do this myself, and is it an easy seal job.
Regards

Think you have a dti? not tdi lol
black soot on the turbo is actually common on these, dont get worrying about it to much yet!! clean it off and keep an eye on it, its usually the seal between the two halves if the turbo which leaks slightly!
I tightened the big sealing ring about half a turn when i had mine and it cured it then!! :y

:)Hi Omega Baron.
Thank you very much for your reply, and I am relieved that its not a big costly job. I thought it may run into hundreds.
Thanks Again.

As said, don't worry about it too much, they all seem to leak slightly around that pipe.
