My ciggy lighter seems to have losts its footing and is flapping about in its place preventing me from being able to close the damn thing. Can I do something to fix this. How do I remove the draw to inspect whats actually happened?
Secondly, how do I remove the gear lever selector surround (the bit with the gear nos on it/auto)?
Many thanks.

remove the liner by pressing the grey part on the right hand side as if you are emptying it. Put handbrake firmly on turn ignition on do not start the engine press brake and select 1st gear turn ignition off. This will give better access to the screw which is situated in a little cutout in the centre at the back unscrew with a philips driver keep the driver in place and gently pull the casing towards you it automatically disconnects the wiring plug. Then see if you can sort from here replacement is just the reverse.
Hope this helps :y

As above for the ashtray. :y
Reference the gear selector gaiter and surround, Gently prise the gearshift gaiter out and then prise up the plastic surround that contains the gear indicator lights.

Thanks chaps.
When you say prise the gaitor out, I presume you mean where it meets the black surround? Is there a way to do this without breaking any clips or is it just being really careful. Likewise when you say prise the surround out, do you do this from the centre out or from outside inwards? Hope I am making sense?

I wouldn't bother pulling the gaiter away from the black surround (depending on what you need to do of course.)
If you have strong finger nails you can simply pull up the rear edge of the black surround (it is held by 2 spring clips). Otherwise use a plastic scraper to avoid scratching the finish too much.

I wanted to replace it with a new(ish) one. They all seem to have prev owners fingernail marks where the handbrake lines up. Must have huge hands as mine even dont even come close to the black surround. But the last 6 cars I looked at all had finger/nail marks at the midline of the rear edge of the surround.
Do the conecting wires easily disconnect or pop off?
