I was trying to post some tunes here from my own youth but couldn't.
I've been feeling a bit melancholic following something that was said in another thread - it got me thinking about people I knew back then - people who instilled in me the need to embrace words and to seek their true meaning and also how necessary it was to convey words and thoughts to others in the hope that they would understand and explore them.
The Sixties (when I was in my formative years) was a time of great change but also of great violence - however, every so often someone came along to articulate the need to reject that violence in favour of speech and understanding, one such person was Robert Kennedy.
Irrespective of however we evaluate the Kennedy dynasty - especially in how it shaped the American political scene during that decade - when words of that importance are encapsulated in a simple but brutally honest message, those words are timeless and are as relevant today as they were when delivered all those years ago.
So, to AaronJB, I have a very limited ability to use the language when compared to many others, but thanks to your comments I rekindled the memories of some fine people - people who helped make me the person I am today and, for that, I am eternally grateful to them.
Rather than music, I'll contribute the following as the overall tenor of the piece matches very well what I've been thinking about in the preceding hours.

Without words we fail to reach our true potential - without understanding them we are nothing.

Yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss yes yes I must still be in my youth as non of those were being played in the night clubs that I staggered out of in my youth days ;) ;D ;D

Jeez - I must have been in a right state last night. ;D
Now that I've beaten that slightly indulgent streak from the depths of my mind, here are some sounds which were around in my youth. The music, as a genre, didn't do very much for me but, nonetheless, it's an important part of that decade and helped to lay the ground for what followed in the popular field. :y
