wondering wether to have a play with mine or not, does anybody still use the cbs?
-
I use it every time I go for long trips and I am not alone on this trip, usually friend drives behind me. It is very good thing, and i can't understand why people forgot about CB Radios. If most people would use them, you could tell where is traffic jams or police playing with laser guns ;D

:D Believe it or not some taxis still use them in leicester........ made noticable by the long, long mast on the top swaying in the wind ;)

I still have one installed in my old Cavalier, which I use to get the heads up on traffic problems on my route to work. Nowhere near as many people 'with their ears on' as there used to be though. :(
10-4 good buddies!! :y

I've got a couple of CB's kicking about. Had a play about 18 months ago. York was very quiet, however after a little drive to a high point just outside York, I started picking up allsorts from South & West Yorkshire. (Most of which sounded like Rotherham/Barnsley/Sheffield type accents to me). We tried to make contact for a while, but got nowhere, assume they were all too far away.
However on another night, we manage to speak with a guy from Castleford – admittedly I did have to cheat and use a small 30w burner… :-X
Still keep meaning to dig it out and have another play, but never get the time really. :'(

I used a cb all the time in my truck. they are very handy for traffic info & talking to your mates. & when in a town when you wanted info on a drop you did'nt know there was allways a local on a static or another breaker who would know the place. they saved a lot of us truckers a load of time.

still got mine fixed up not many on there now only a few

Got it rigged up, picked up a few foreign drivers on the EC channels but not a great deal on UK, on commute always get the same guys talking on channel 19.
There are some homebase users near me though, from midnight onwards they do a little 'pirate radio' thing, play old tunes, take requests, quite amuzing, especially when i was travelling back from a job around 5.30am sunday morning, the so-called 'dj' had perhaps had one too many shandys and whatever track he played all i could hear was f***ing this artist ect ect,
Will leave it on especially with bad weather see if I can pick anyone else up.
