Trying to do my daughters new flat and fitting all the bits she has bought including new lights, changed 4 sets then came to the hall, thought I took a pic of the ceiling rose, but the bugger did not come out. I have 2 switches, one by front door and one by living room. from the ceiling comes 2 3 core cable standard blue.brown and earth, one of the blue wires had a brown sleeve on it.
I have tried evey way to wire the light in but all I get is a faint glow like a candle and non operational switches.
I need help very quickly :(

from the way you have descibed i imagine its 2way switching and without a photo shooting in the dark (no pun intended) ;D
but i would put all the browns together and the blue with the brown sleeving into the switch side of the light fitting all blues into the neutral and earths into the earth terminal :y
get back to me oh you havent touched the switches themselves have you ?

Light fitting has only the two colours blue and brown and not touched the switches, this place is so new, sill plastic cover on the stairs from the ground floor
-
the brown from the light fitting to the blue with the brown sleeving, the blue from the light fitting to the remaining blue, the two browns together in a connector and all earths together
try that :y

pm sent with contact number on
blue wire goes to blue on the light fitting
blue wire with brown sleeve goes to the brown on the light fitting
the 2 brown wires go into a connector but dont connect to any wires on the light fitting
then you need to connect the green and yellow earths
hope all goes well if not give me a call :y

Would be worth checking that the new fitting isn't faulty IME
