has it been playing up before this happend?
check earth wires under battery box to left.
also check earth wires behind fuse box inside under sterring wheel have to remove fues box.
also have you been fixing anything on mig before this happend?
-
Hi....checked all fuses today inside and under the bonnet and also earth wires ! loosened and tightened up ! still no joy..... :(
first time this has happened was yesterday morning when starting from cold ! stopped engine right away to have
a look under bonnet ! the flashing battery light when started has to be the key to this fault.... :D
could anyone tell me where a wiring diagram for the electric circuits can be purchased or viewed on a web site perhaps
any help or information would be very be grateful...... :'( :'(
thankyou.....Alex..... :-[

The wiring diagrams are in the Haynes manual.
Best get yourself a magnifying as well because unless you have the eyes of a teenager you will need it to read them. ::)
-
Hi Andy....think the Haynes Manual only covers up to 1999 models ! my car is a 2003 2.6 V6 ! thanks anyway !
might be the same wiring diagrams do not know :( ? any help and information on fault would be most helpful !
thankyou.......Alex :D

It is true that Haynes didn't produce a manual for the later cars but the wiring diagrams for 'later models' do seem to be correct for my 2003 Elite.
I don't think the charging circuit changed at all from the first Omega to the last. Most of the changes seemed to occur with the launch of the facelift models and that seems to have been anticipated in the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual.
If you do find anything that doesn't tie up please say. There are people on the forum with access to TIS who can answer specific questions (but not post up whole wiring diagrams due to copyright)

when you turn key do you get a singel click ie sound of a relay??
-
Hi.....Thanks again for all your suggestions and help :y ! did a check this morning to find out if alternator is working ok !
took a a live 12 volt feed from battery and connected it in series with a small 12 volt bulb to the alternator field terminal ( small terminal )....thus imamating the normal system via the dash board charge light....! started engine and test bulb immediately went out and the battery voltage immediately jumped from 13 volts to 14.3 volts which think would be normal :y !
so think I can assume alternator is doing its job and charging ok ! think that part is working.... :)
would be very grateful for any other ideas and suggestions...... :D :D
thanks again for your help......Alex..... :( :(
-
Hi...sorry missed that last question :-[ ! yes get a single click from a relay under the bonnet when turning on and off ignition ! and also clicking noise from top of air intake manifold ! do not know if this is normal noise ! :D
thanks again.....Alex..... :(
-
Have you tried removing and re-seating the dashboard cluster itself ?
:-\
-
Hi Dave....thanks for you suggestion ! :) will try that tomorrow morning will investigate how to remove the cluster ! might be easy to remove ? ::) thanks again guys.....Alex... :)

Here you go Removing the Instrument Panel (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90505.0)
When alternators were first introduced they relied on the warning lamp being present to energise the field coils. I don't think the alternator fitted to the Omega does though.

Hi Dave......your top man....... :) :)....your suggestion of faulty connection on the dash board cluster proved to be spot on ! :o :o.....removed the dash board cluster and had a quick look today ! reseated again not thinking that there would be any fault and reassembled..... :-X :-X ....Bingo..... :o :o ....turned on ignition and all instrument lights on dash were on.... :o :o.. nearly broke down in tears :) started engine and everthing back to normal again..... 8) 8).....makes you feel good that you have other guy on your side to help and assist many thanks for everyone that posted with suggestion and help....and Merry Christmas to you Dave and thanks very much for your kind help.......Alex :) :)

I have the same problem on my 1995 3.0mv6 now, and I've tried to remove the cluster and put it back today, with no luck! :( The speedo needle is stuck on 40km/t (speed when this happend) and the powerwindows doesent work, neither does the "s" button and the winterprogram on the gearbox, and sunroof, automatic driving lights, radio.
Seems like the power supply to these things are missing, but no broken fuses. The heater does work in all levels, and the car runs just like before..
??? ::)

would check fuse with meter, if ok check for volts at fuse, if no volts remove fuse box and check the back of the fuse box, if fuse is ok and there is power check the fuse clip it may be lose or correded up. if they all fine check earth wires under the battery bay to the left. also the eath wires in fuse box area, will need to remove and look up the hole to see them.

Tnx! I give it a try tomorrow :)
