Title: clit 2001 won't start
Post by: danzigfan on 12 December 2011, 19:28:56
Sorry for being a pain in the  :-X but does anyone know what could couse a problem with renault (I'll clean my mouth after saying this ugly word) clit....Key into keyfob, but the little anoying red light (imobilizer?) won't turn off. As a result little clit won't start. Batteries ok, reserve key is wrecked.... Any ideas please? Thanks

SWTSMBO has a 2001 clit and it sometimes gives similar symptoms, always in the winter .. even though the battery is turning the engine over well enough ... the "cure" has always been the following sequence ...

1. Plug in code reader to check for codes .. none seen
2. Clear all codes anyway
3. Put battery on charge overnight

This has sorted it out every time. Mind you, how the battery survives at this time of year I have no idea... she starts it up, runs demister and rear screen heater on max while she scrapes and faffs, then headlights on and drive to work .... less than 10 minutes :(

Poor battery never gets the chance to recover :(

if its immobiliser problem the key needs repair or you need backup key.. (happened to me because I drop the key daily )

Thanks Entwood and Cem, problem os thete is no backup key. Can the code on key be "synchronised" as on omega maybe? By puting a key into keyfob and lock/unlock? Or is was ment to break down so the stealers could charge extra money?

Lol, there a bit of a nightmare setup on these thanks to the 'master key' bit.

On Vx you can only resync the remote, not the immobiliser.

Thanks Cem,  I've found that page too, an hour ago. The point of all this is "there is always a way" . Thanks again. If this doesn't work.......I just need a canister full of gasoline  8) This will save the entire problem  ;D

for long years this was the only problem that clit failed (actually key failed) .. find a key shop, they will read its code and solve the problem..

I will, it's for a friend, not me, but I'm on an internet hunt for some local key magician now (kids fell asleep after two hours of rolling all over the bed..). Hello silence my old friend...  :y
