Currently wiring in MID. Book of Blocks says:
Current Track 846, MID Pin 27 SWBR 0,5 leads to Current Track 257.
Current Track 257 being Pin 32 on the ECU. All clear as mud so far. ::)
I've found a SWBR wire on the bottom/lower plug on the ECU...
BUT, I cannot pinpoint this wire where it comes through the bulkhead, it just doesn't exist :'(
Had a similar issue with the wiring for the coolant and washer levels, but the colours at the plugs match the (short) MID loom, so was able to simply connect the two ends.
Before I go assuming and connect the MID SWBR to the ECU SWBR and blow summat up, can some one please confirm the colour/location (and how to correctly identify the ECU pin numbers) of the ECU output to the MID. Haynes only covers the 2.5/3.0, not the DBW V6's, so just want to be sure :-\
As ever TIA, Al. :y

sw/br - A3 pin on ECU (comunication wire to MID 27pin)

Problem is that the cars are built up of several loom sections and a section may have the spare wires in but another section not - as you have just found out. Bypassing is the only thing you can do TBH.

Thanks for that... My lower plug has nothing at Pin 3, whilst the Pin numbers are reversed for the upper plug. So a bit confuddled now :-\

On me lappy again now (TIS doesn't work on Touchpad), what pin is it you are unsure of?

Ok need clarification of the MID Link from the ECU and wire colour as pic above doesn't match vehicle. :-\ Pin 3 on the top plug as you look at the ECU is populated by BRBL, Pin 3 on the lower ECU plug is blank but there are a couple of SWBR wires on both plugs. Reg is OU54AEW. :y

Pin 3 on X86 is BKBN going to pin 27 on MID.
Pin 3 on X85 (BNBU) seems to be an injector :o

As you lift the ECU plate out of the relay box, is X85 the top plug? :-\

Pin 1 on X86 is Brown/Yellow
Pin 1 on X85 is Brown/Green
HTH with identification.

Mud filtered, Ta muchly :y
Pin 1 on X86 is Brown/Yellow Bottom Plug Body Loom
Pin 1 on X85 is Brown/Green Top Plug Engine Loom
HTH with identification.
Yet another plug to retrofit wiring to ::) Does explain why I couldn't find the wire inside the bulkhead though :-\

I would have expected that one to be in place. Ho hum.

Sadly Pin three on X86 is as bare as a tree in a nuclear winter :P
