Title: that sinking feeling when something goes 'wrong'
Post by: keith2.2 on 17 March 2008, 20:43:51
was driving down to oxford at the weekend and the car had been fine. Until randomly I came off a roundabout and went to accelerate, and it just juddered until I lifted off. Being a 'new' car (to me) I got that horrbile heart-sinking dissapointment and dread.

No strange noises and the problem didn't seem to get worse, so I carried on applying no more than about 25% throttle or 60mph until the next services, whereupon I popped the bonnet with the engine running.

after locating a loud tapping noise...a plug lead had popped off!

plugged it back on and off we went! If only things always turned out like that! :y

nice to know it was an easy fix for you.

i had the same one but the accerlator peddle fell from underneath my foot. panic set in cos i was ment to be sorting my son out at the time 18 mths old with a broken leg.

the accerlerator cable ahad popped of the ball joint. quick fix once it had cooled down. ;D

Have had it stay on the floor - along with red-lined engine and rapidly approaching roundabout before.  :o That was fun, and required a bit of quick thinking, and a change of underwear.
