Happy driving well done :y

Nice one ... hope its a "good 'un" .. :)
-
Good job :y
Hope all goes well :)
-
thanks guys, I'll try and get some pics up in a couple of weeks when I get it.
I didnt expect to buy one so quick, but this seemed to be a reasonable car at a reasonable price, and as its been dropped from £795 to £625, so it seemed worth going for.
Fingers crossed its not a lemon!

You'll need to change your sig then ;D
-
Good luck..... :y
-
Well done, it looks good. Good to see the seller mention about the cambelt change shows he is aware. Maybe worth checking that they changed the tensioners, pulleys AND WATER PUMP at the same time as the cambelt. I didn't :'( :'( :'(

I guess I'll find that out when I get the service history for it.
He's had it valeted today and sent me some new interior pics, its scrubbed up quite well from what I can see.
And yes, deffo time for a new forum sig!

"we've got ten cars" ...... if only :o
-
dread your insurance and tax bill lol

we've got a 'Modern Classics & Motor Trade Policy', costs about £1600 a year, no windscreen excess either :) We've had 4 windscreens in the last couple of years, including one on my DeLorean which had to be specially ordered as it has a built in antenna for the radio.
Road tax tho.......... dont get me started........ however, out of the 10, the Omega hasnt arrived yet, 3 cars are restoration projects, my Astra Convertible is about to be sold, which leaves 2 Cavaliers, 2 DeLoreans and the Avantime with tax on, but my De is gonna be SORN'd this month, and the Avi and one of the Cav's run out soon so will probably be SORN'd too until show season comes back round again (one of our Cav's is the last one ever made at Luton - some say its the last decent car the factory ever built!! :y ).

How can you be sure about that? Don't you mean one of the last ones made. They were also built in Antwerp and in Germany right upto the summer of '95 - so the only real way to tell is by decoding the VIN.
-
we have a certificate from Vauxhall, signed by the head honchos, and verified by Ian Coomber and Andrew Duerden stating that our car (inc its chassis number) is the last one produced by Vauxhall Motors Ltd. Here's a photo of the certificate - anyone spot the blindingly obvious error tho?

Alot of the Euro built Cav's were Vectra-A's.
-
I see you have a Sera... I nearly bought one of them many years ago :y :y Quite a fun little car from what I remember as I had it on loan for a week while I made up my mind ;D Trouble was, I was commuting 120+ miles a day and couldn't face having to visit the petrol station every 5 minutes with the 40L tank :o ;D
-
As for obvious error on the certificate....
I'd say its the word classic......as far as i remember the cavalier range went L/GL/GLS/CD/CDX

the Classic was one of the many special edition models that they did, its pretty much Envoy spec with a sunroof and passenger airbag.
The Sera is fun, it belonged to Phill's older daughter originally, and when she bought an Audi TT to replace it, Phill took it on. The fuel range is a joke tho, but this is another car we're going to convert to LPG eventually. Its currently being overhauled ready to go back on the road next year.
I was working for a Vauxhall dealer down south when the Vectra came out, and many people traded in their trusty Cavaliers for the new model...... when Vectra's started coming back in their droves on recovery trucks, we had no end of people either asking for their Cavaliers back (often too late) or trading their Vectra's in for Cavaliers.
Anyway, they guy I'm getting my Omega off has sent me some piccies of it now its been valeted, its scrubbed up quite well :) (it needs new floor mats tho)

Hi Claire,
What LPG system is in it?
I'm up your way soon, If you want I'll gladly pop in, look it over and hook the diags up to it and make sure all is as it should be :y
-
I'm very impressed - I was sure that they would keep the last one for themselves in a museum.
I can't spot the mistake though - what is it?
I also had many many Cavaliers - all via Vauxhall Fleet cars due to my assocuiation with Vx. Used to keep them for a few months and hand them back before they reached 8,000 miles & would then see them at a dealers as Network Q cars. All the later ones I had were Euro builds - GSi, GSi 4x4, Turbo, Diplomat V6 :y
-
Hi James, no idea what system, but I'm assuming its whatever system Vauxhall fitted as standard to the 'Dual fuel' badged cars if that helps. And if you are free to pop by some time and give it the once over, that would be very kind of you! I'm about 5 mins from J27 of the M1, let me know when you're passing by and I'll give you destructions to my house :)
Robert, the one they've kept in the Heritage Centre is an M plate 2.5CDX, apparantly they weren't that bothered about the last Cav, it didnt mean much to them as they were more interested in getting the Vectra ready for launch and promoting that.
The mistake is on the chassis number - its got 895 instead of 89S - ok, so I'm a geek......... ;)
I'll be after a new set of rubber mats for it and also a tow bar if anyone can help btw - I'd like an Irmy grille for it, but the prices are pretty scary.....
Cheers,
Claire

A set of Elite or late MV6 alloys would set that car off, Claire :y
