I have got into the habit of using the memory function on the mirrors when I am reversing into a tight parking space. Did it today while parking at Torbay Hospital. Spent a few hours crawling around looking at steam pipes, had a chat with Dave about BOSE ;D and then set off back to the office.
When I pressed the memory button to move the mirrors back up to the normal position nothing happened, pressing the adjustment buttons on the drivers seat didn't work either. The mirror adjustment buttons work (or they do if I move the rocker switch far enough ::)) and the passenger seat switches still work the passenger seat.
Does the memory module have a separate fuse to the seat motors? I'm guessing that I have a comedy chafed wire under the drivers seat somewhere but I don't want to go near the air bag or seat tensioner wiring loom if I don't have too...............

Its probable that the mirrors (presumably only external - the internal is reliable) have knackered feedback circuits. Passenger one seems more prone, not sure why, may it gets belted more by pedestrians etc?
A good GM specific code reader capable of live data should show if this is the case.
Same fuse I believe ;)

Actually, check F13, F15 and F5...
-
Actually, not sure I understand the prob, sorry.
Does the seat move not using memory buttons?
Does seat move using memory buttons? If yes, does internal mirror move (adjust it to make it move)? What about *any* movement from external (adjust to make them have to move Up/Down/Left/Right etc)

AndyH,
Give me a "heads up" next time you leave cornwall on your way over here, and I`ll get some bits together for you to have a look at by the time you`ve finished at the hospital
be good to finally put a face to a name
;)

I understand that Andy H's seat isn't remembering the pre-sets. ;)

Rereading, I read it as the seat doesn't move either... ...which is liable to be F5 or F12...

But I am having trouble focussing on posts tonight, no idea why. Tired I guess :-[
How gay is that :-[

Does the seat move not using memory buttons? No
Does seat move using memory buttons? No If yes, does internal mirror move Not tested (yet) (adjust it to make it move)? What about *any* movement from external (adjust to make them have to move Up/Down/Left/Right etc)They move when I press the rocker switch, I haven't managed to get any response from the memory switches.
Thanks for the pointers, I will go and check F5 & F12 (then F13 & F15)
back in 10 minutes..........

Weird
F5, F12, F13 & F15 all checked OK. All look brand new and no sign of loose pins.
Fuses in, turned ignition on to check interior mirror and everything seat and mirror related seems to be working. The memory positions still seem to be set too.

iffy connection of the fuse?
The digi odometer disappeared on Astra once, just showed ------ ??? Pulled all the fuses, all OK, but it fixed the fault. :y

Will do. :y
I will try to have the decency to give you a couple of days warning next time. :y

Possibly :-\
I hope it isn't an early manifestation of ignition switch failure :(

Not ideal 'fix', but it gives you clues as to what it could be - duff fuse connection or poor wire near fuse, or ECU needed power reset.
At least its working. For now.

350 mile journey yesterday, stopped for coffee half way and (windscreen mounted) GPS wouldn't wake up when we restarted, everything else seemed to be working though so assumed it was a Garmin software problem
Pulled off motorway 2 hours later and steering felt very heavy.
Went out this morning and no life from climate control system. Fuse F14 has blown. Haven't had a chance to try fitting a new fuse yet but am worried it will blow straight away.
Other than the penny in the accessory/cigar lighter socket are there any other 'usual suspects'
I should round up for interrogation?
Seat and mirror memory still working...........
-
I blew this fuse when trying to put my phone charger in the cig lighter. Thought it was a duff lighter socket but haven't examined it yet ???
Replaced the fuse with no issues, though haven't used the socket since.
-
When the GPS failed to wake up I did try reinserting the plug in the cigar lighter socket....
Here's hoping it was the socket that caused the 30 Amp fuse to blow.
-
New fuse fitted. Power steering and cabin heating restored :)
Peering into the cigar lighter socket I can see a flash mark where the nose of the GPS socket has touched bare metal. >:( (why are these sockets such poor quality :-\)
