On my old 2.5 Omega the 'low fuel warning light' illuminated with about 50/52 miles left on the range computer, which would later indicate when there were 31 miles left. I'm sure you know what I mean. On the new 2.6 the range computer indicates at 31 miles before the low fuel light even comes on, and quite often when the needle indicates a quarter full. I know neither can be wholly trusted, but it just seems strange. The Reflection was manual and the Elite is auto, but I don't think that should make any difference to the gauges.
Just wanted to ask if this was common?

Happened to me a few times, wouldn`t have thought it`s worth worrying about..............................................unless you run dry ;D ;D

Hmmm, think you could be right, I seem to recall on MV6, its the light on that annoys me, Elite its the CID. But then as £40 of petrol lasts me months, I can't be too sure now...

I'll keep an eye on it for a while, and guess I'll go by the 'range' just in case ::)

It might be my imagination - or the fact I live in a very hilly part of Somerset, but when I get to about 22 things start to get a little 'light'! On the MV6 - the light is on at the top of the red / 31 miles she starts to flash on the MID, but by the way she feels I'd say I'd be empty at about 13 miles on the range... can anyone back this guestimate up? ;D

Tbh, it all depends on what engine (economy) and driving style.
The gauge on most cars is not very accurate. Mine will read just below the red and I know I still have a good 5 ltrs in the tank.
5 ltrs will get me anyway between 15 and 40 miles ;)
The cid/mid reading is again a estimate so don't rely either imo.
Iirc, the tank pumps are "wet pumps" and the bearing on the pump is cased in plastic and uses the fuel splashing around it to stop it melting so you should always leave a little fuel in the tank ;)

Im sure the older dashes read the same, once the newer software is applied with tech2 :y
that is, all indicators start at around 30 miles
