Looking at a lease agreement on a new place to live. They say that illegal and immoral uses are not allowed. WTF?! What is immoral that is not illegal that they have the right to tell me not to do?
I know you guys are going to go all over the place with this, but it does really bother me and I would like at least a few serious replies please. This would not be allowed in the states because religious busy-bodies would be running around trying to control your life. If they listed specific items that would be one thing, but 'immoral' leaves the door wide open to interpretation. >:(

Well you do now own a skateboard, and unless you are going to be building home made bombs, or running a brothel, then you should be OK ::).....On the other hand the conditions of the lease are entirely up to the freeholder and likewise up to the prospective tenant as to whether they sign or agree to the terms within the lease :y...you can always skate way you know :y

Yeah, that's what the Realtor said. But aren't those illegal as well?

Porn film "studio" ... not illegal but could be considered immoral .... in fact this is a a "clever" clause, as illegal activities are defined ... ie they break a written law.... immoral activities are open to debate/conjecture and will vary according to religous/personal beliefs .... so they COULD argue an activity is immoral IN THEIR EYES in order to evict an unwanted tenant who may not be actuall breaking the law.
