Post by: mav1508 on 27 December 2011, 18:37:22
evening all, yet another problem with my 2.5 v6.. that i have only had for 4hrs.. >:( this one relates to the passenger electric window.. it will operate via the drivers console but only when the doors open.. ??? the passenger switch not at all. i was thinking the wiring was getting trapped in the door hence only working when the doors open?? any ideas??

All fuses OK? No idea of fuse numbers, but there's two feeds for the windows.

sounds like a broken wire or dirty connection in door connector plug to me, open door and move wires about whilst using switch to see if dies again

evening all,
checked all the fuses... all ok checked the door connecter all seems intact.. but now i have airbag/seat belt warning light on the dash. this only appeared after i removed the door connecter ???. this is strange.. because the passenger window will open from the drivers side controler but only if the passenger door is open..weird, not a very safe way of opening the window :D  i have ordered a new passenger switch and pray it works :)

Looks like your car has side airbags. (just checked, its a W plate so will have) You either had the ignition switched on when disconnecting or switched it on whilst disconnected, hence the airbag fault showing.

The door has impact sensors within detecting sudden compression of the panel which activates the side airbags on the seats.

Either by proper tech2 or a device with appropriate software on it.  No doubt someone will be nearto your location and will shout out.   :y

Its my understanding that if the airbag light is illuminated then the airbags default to safe - i.e. will not deploy in the event of an accident - so worth getting the light reset.   :y

Very slow going up/down when door open or when door closed?

Could be door/window guide is twisted a tad and eases when door is open allowing slow movement but extra tensions when door closed causes winder mechanism/guides to cause a jam.

What are the door gaps like?  Even all the way round and passenger side the same as the drivers side?

Possibly a repaired/replacement door after some damage....

all door gaps are the same passenger side.. front and rear look the same, very slow when the door is open... it only moves about an inch when closed???

Try when door closed to put a bit of pressure from inside to out on the window frame - not the glass itself - and see if that makes any difference.  If its easier them the door glass needs to be dropped and the frame pulled out a tad at the top to square up the glass guides....   ;)
