Last few days been eating more tradional fayre & craving anything rice/chilli based as is my staple diet. NO TURKEY but left over chicken, leg of lamb, onion & mushrooms that needed using, few green chillies, some stock, a squirt of tomato puree a few of the ever present spices & two packs of microwave basmati, a few voddies, (day off tomorrow), planet rock & a total lack of finesse, all knocked up.....
It's turned out a dry ish dish bit like a moist Biryani or Pilaf but if i say so myself YUM & there's loads of it!!!

A risotto does'nt have to have a strong taste & i love the "what's in the kitchen & what can we make out of it approach". Sometimes you make a mess, other times you invent a new dish.
God bless CRASH COOKING!!!!!

If Jaime's had his fill of curry & stella i don't think Sue physically could tuck the sheets in until his system had bled some gas through....

More people should cook like this. Even if not too clever in the kitchen that's the way many of us learned & gained confidence, found different ways to cook different ingredients etc. Some friends buy fresh ingredients to cook a dish only to throw half of them out fresh but unused. If i'm there at the time i take it home instead. Half a roast sunday joint or chicken, hardly cold, fresh veggies...."we won't use it".... I WILL!!!
Remember Tony H's recent post about feeding the hungry? You could say....food for thought!

ive left peoples house before with chunks of meat and veg wrapped in tinfoil or in a bowl ;D
i cant bare to see meat thrown,i can chuck mash but i hate to see veg go in the bin.i love carrots, brocolli, cauliflower.even if you just plate it and nuke it for yer dinner its gone to good home and not in the back of the bin wagon

It's estimated that 15 million pounds worth of perfectly edible food ends up in the bin in this country every year :o :o :o >:(
