Title: Non Omega LED Rear brake light repair.?
Post by: Varche on 31 December 2011, 11:45:08
I took the high level "LED" brake light off my Vitara today to see why it wasn't working. It wasn't connected for a start but worse the gizzards rattle. Can you repair them or is there a specialist supplier? Could I take the internals out of the Irmscher Omega boot lid spoiler one I have spare and adapt it? Mine is about two inches shorter than the Omega one same width and 2 bolts securing.

It is no use Ebaying for one as Uk cars didn't have this spec and I doubt I would easily find one in a breakers here as it was a rare fitment.

The fall back is to get one from a Spanish Suzuki dealer but I just know that it will be astronomic in price.

Shame your not in the UK Varche, plenty of members that would have a quick look at it for you including myself, end of the day its only a bunch of LED's mounted on a PCB strip, as a general rule LED's are quiet reliable, even the high bright one's rarely go, you could take it apart and have look and measure the feed across each one or check for dry joints. Just remember if you do start replacing LED components that there Diodes so they only work the correct way round.

Chris.
