Her foot and calf have been playing up and a very bad night last night so took her to the 'walk in centre' who suspected DVT so then spent several hours on EAU...... ::) ::) ::) Tests say not DVT but no real explanation, so sent home with pain killers and the suggestion that is is some form of fluid from a cyst behind the knee. Typicaly she has been on line and symptoms do not match the diagnosis......... :-\ :-\ She is struggling to walk and in pain so got a take away on the way home from the hospital.......Oh well Happy New Year........ ::) ::) ::)

please tell her to not look on line...easier said than done but belive me you end up beliving you have something you dont have :y

Fully agree with you, it is too easy to make the symptoms fit the worst, thanks for the heads up.... :y

I hope Mrs Cakey gets better soon. Kick up a fuss, if they have let you go without a diagnosis then they are being lazy. Go to the GP and demand they look at it more closely.

Thanks Paul, and Guffer, I guessed what you meant..........I don't think either of us are particularly happy about not having a specific diagnosis, they suggested 'ruptured Bakers Cyst' but this does not explain some of her problems.......

Unfortunately, in this age of tinterweb thingamy-jigs, it is easy to look up symptoms for near enough any issue and some people will manage to interpret them in different ways ;)
Best bet is to follow the advice given and if you still aren't happy tomorrow then you can always make another trip ;)

We will see how it goes, and go to GP or back to hospital as needed......she is no wimp, that is me, so if she is complaining, something is wrong........ :(

No, they talked about a scan on Tuesday but apparently the blood tests ruled out the need.... :-\ :-\ We have some excellent GP's and we will follow through with them on Tuesday if necessary..... :y

Best of luck Mrs Vamps. And as said, I'm quite sure something can be found on the Internet to support any fact or theory. However diverse, which is worrying.
Atb. :)

Its rare to have a DVT with a negative blood test and no significant risk factors for having a DVT. Bakers cysts are very common and can cause DVT like symptoms. What I would suggest is that if the pain doesn't settle in 24 hrs, then make another trip and get a doppler scan any way. It would confirm the diagnosis or either. Broken long bones in the leg are uncommon unless you have brittle bones(osteoporosis) or significant trauma. Other causes are nerve related pain which is exceeding difficult to diagnose or problems with the joints (easily excluded if you or the mrs can move the joint without much pain).

The pain is in the back of her calf and in her foot, she also has bruising on the lover outer edge of the foot, problems came on without any known cause and she has difficulty in putting weight on her foot..........she describes the pain as like having cramp that will not go away, this does not explain the bruising on her foot though.....her knee is slightly swollen but she says it has always been like this....... :-\ :-\ :-\

If its truly bruised without any trauma, then thats slightly worrying. Difficult to say without actually seeing it. Was it just AnE or did you see a medical doctor? Did she just have the DVT blood test or other routine blood tests as well?
If the pain gets worse or bruising worsens then you need to get to hospital ASAP. Remember that most scans etc happen between 9-5, so waiting till 6pm to go to hospital is going to be counter productive.

Bloody Hell D, now you got me worried.....
Definatly a bruise without trauma.............
Went to 'drop in centre' who then send to EAU
Was seen by a doctor and then by a consultant, bloods were for all tests and she had an ecg......... :)
-
If she has seen a medical consultant then I would be reassured. They do generally go through all the possibilities and test for most things. Like I said before, the important thing is to head straight back if things dont seem to be improving.

That's even worse, hope he/she is OK :ywe feel so helples when it comes to the kids being poorly.... :(

would be happier if there were xrays/scan performed. as I posted up here a few weeks ago the admission people had missed my mother's damaged hip - she now has her reconstrutcive hip surgery on 9th Jan all being well. The hospital were originally telling me there was no problem only old age which was proved to be totally incorrect.
my mother was in agony and could not stand yet they were going to try and discharge her back in October. She is still in hospital waiting for op on 9th.

Thanks Peeps, she has not been so good today, stuck in a chair, just about able to 'hobble' to the loo etc, think she may have done too much yesterday........ ::) ::) The thing is, she does not do 'nothing' very well, so she has been driven crazy today sitting around all day..... :(
