Having read the guide, at what frequency is it recommended to clean these?
-
I'd recommend doing them annually.
-
Cheers Lee, I am only doing about 3000m a year in the 3.2, does that still apply?
-
Even more so in your case, lower mileage will greatly increase condensates to form in the breathes.

B*&%@r, yet another job to do this winter :y :y :y

Once they have been properly cleaned out once, I just check them every oil change. Remove the pipes at the rear of the plenum cover and, by blowing down a length of hose, check each breather is clear both up towards the plenum and down to the breather box. A squirt of carb cleaner into each for good measure and leave it at that, if all appears well.

If you take Kevins advice do you have to do an oil change having injected carb cleaner and does a long run now and again help to clear the breathers

A little squirt of carb cleaner (i.e. not a whole can) will do no harm. I just do it with an oil change by routine.
A long run will indeed help, as it removes all moisture from the crankcase if the oil is hot for an extended period of time.

Thanks KW. :y

Indeed, I do mine annually (in the summer!) along with TB clean etc.
For shorter journeys, I'd probably consider 3 times a year, esp if the oil you use has a habit of mayoing on shorter runs (check oil cap)
