hi , Its been a long time since i was on here, i was just wondering would the bumpers, wings, doors, bonnet etc from an 02 car fit onto my 99 car , as i have a 99 2.5 TD which has served me well for 5 years but the doors are very rusty & i have a 02 2.2 cd body shell minus engine which i could scavenge the parts before she goes for scrap .
I was also looking to kow what way would the electric windows work, if i swapped the doors, as i would have extra switchs could i just plug and play, will the new stlye door panels allow the door to close fully with the old dash, any help would be much appreciated . ian

not sure how to tell pic up now.

wings and door OK but i think the other bits need more work to make them fit
-
Think it has been done before :-\

wonder if anyone has had experience of the electric windows issue , it would be great if it was just plug n play but its never that easy . I run a signmaking company & i intend to wrap the whole car in carbon fibre , i have the roof done already & i will get some pix up, but seeing as i got the 02 for very little money i decided to try to change the doors & bits over if they will fit before i wrap it as its hard to wrap over rust lol .

IMO it'd look better if you swapped your old door panels over to the 'new' doors, and you wouldn't need to worry about trying to get the facelift window switches to work with the prefacelift car's wiring. :y

Nice wrap :o I tried to wrap my girlfriends Citroen C2 bonnet, and ended with damaged paintwork :y

Just swop your engine & gearbox into the newer motor, job done :y

i take it that the 99 is a mfl with the window switches in the centre gearshift surround? if so you would need the door loom out of your mfl to fit in the newer doors, as to fitting the the older doorpanels i think the door handles are in a slightly different position and the tweeters definitley are,
as for the bonnet that wont swap over as the grill is attatched to the bonnet on the newer one whereas the grill is attatched to top of bumper on the older one also the bonnet slam panel (where the bonnet clicks into) is slightly different, i am not saying that all this cant be done but you would have to swap door looms, cut out the bonnet slam panel and weld into the older car so you could fit bonnet and wings you would have to swap the headlights over too as they are slightly different aswell, seems an awful lot of faffing around but as i said it can be done and has been done :y

Bonnet is a straight forward swap as long as you fit the facelift bumper too, the slam panels are the same - no welding required. Obvioulsy headlights are different.

started into it today wings went on easy except for bolt on inside of wheel arch, front bumper cross members are different too still messing about with them had to extend wires going to washer bottle as really want new type bumper as am goin to wrap it & dont want black plastic bits on old type bumper showing, if bonnet goes straght on will be great , have doors on but as said am gonna have to change the looms over , just gonnna stick with old boot lid as no key hole in new type one dont fancy being locked out. have to new type tail lamps too dont know if they wil fit but early ones look better anyway . It is alot of messing about but wil be worth it in end cant wait to get it back on the road

Looks nice, would like to see more pics of that!
I've been told if you change the bonnet and the bumper from the newer model, you need to change headlights too? but looking at the pics, they look the same imo

That looks well cool :o I really like that :y Is it hard to do that and where would you get the wrap from? Is it expensive? Gotta be cheaper than a respray. Can you get a pearlescent colour that changes colour when the light hits from different angles?
-
thanks , wel yes yes & yes you can get all from a company called MDP including flip paiant effect def cheaper than a respray , i run a small graphics company & this is what we are trying to get into owes me about £400

Cool. Thanks for that link. I expect i would mess it up if i tried to do it myself. Think i am gonna have to try and find somewhere close to me that does wrapping. Hope all goes well for you and your company gets bigger. :) keep up the good work. :y
