Aren't cnet the ones putting spyware wrappers, sorry "Enhancements to benefit users", around free downloads?

Also ran a full system scan.

Right click on the shortcut, select Properties, and make sure the "Start In" instruction is "C:\Program Files\MetaGeek\inSSIDer 2.0\" and that no extra parameters have been added.

Agreed :) Don't see the point in it running all the time ... if there's a problem fire it up .. it is a diagnostic tool after all... you don't drive around with a techII plugged in all the time do you ? :)

Back on topic ... tried my copy just now and got the same result ...it has been "reported" on the metageek forum .. but no answer yet... it would appear that the embedded "news" function is the culprit ... but there is no way to turn it off .. :(

Phew, that goodness I'm not alone.
Must admit, used it on and off for a few years, and never had a problem until now.
