Title: a gentle reminder
Post by: hotel21 on 07 January 2012, 18:27:34
Forum guidelines are located in the newbie area.

Part of them is now required reading as a reminder to some, viz:-

No thread bumping (posting on a thread, purely to get it to back to top of the list).

Chances are, the reason your item has dropped down the pages is that its either too pricey, not currently wanted, or not currently available.

thanks   :y

I guess this is aimed at me, so what your saying is i have to put a new thread up everytime for wanted parts everytime it drops to page 2?

Bit pointless isn't it?  My post count will still be the same!  ::)

Loads of threads saying the same thing, instead of just the one.

The thread was aimed at anyone who bumped a thread over the past couple of days.  If that includes your good self then, such is life, but there were more than one or two.   :)

The sales/wanted threads autolock after, I think, 4 weeks irrespective of whether it is an active thread with regular replies or a redundant one with no replies, regardless of whether its on page one or twentyone.

There is only so much available shop window space on page one.  If it was full of one sellers items that would prevent sharing thus thread bumping is actively discouraged to prevent over-enthusiastic sellers (or wanters....) hogging the front page.  For the same reason, we actively discourage threads for single items from regular breakers, e.g. a thread for the interior, another for the headlights, another for the bumpers, another for the wheels etc.

Whilst those seeking an item are usually in the minority with a single thread or two they are treated the same as those selling so that the space is shared equally as best as possible.

It is understood that sellers will peruse the pages seeking threads for those wanting specific items (as good business practice, so to speak) whether the thread is open or locked and would most probably generate a PM if they were able to assist.

If nothing is heard then, as I said in the original post on this thread, the item is either too expensive to sell, nobody wants it, or there are none available for those seeking.

Hope that clarifies things a little.   :y

Can I add that Selling or wanted threads are not the place for idle chat about said items either...

cheers :y
