Title: Inside the 2.5TD ECU
Post by: prj on 09 January 2012, 09:47:29
I spent some 1on1 time with the Omega's ECU, and documented the process of adding a little bit of power to my car.
I tried to write it so, that it is as easy to read as possible, so even if you are not familiar with everything, you should understand most of it.

You can read the entire thing here:
http://prj-tuning.com/?p=163 (http://prj-tuning.com/?p=163)

I am not sure if I should have posted this to General Chat instead, so if that is more appropriate, please move my post.

Sorry, I meant to get back to you, but got otherwise sidetracked.  I blame it on Manflu ;D

Whilst we would love to have that in our FAQ, we don't allow linking out to other sites from our FAQ or Maint Guides sections.

If you want to cut and paste it as a thread here, we'd love to have it in our FAQ, more for a background read, as few here would have the capability to do it IMHO. I find it really fascinating :y

Here, here!!  :y  Although I don't have the skills to carry out this work myself, I have found this very interesting and have learnt a great deal!  :)

Nice write up there PRJ, very interesting.

Might be worth posting a 'Inside the 2.5TD ECU' and a link to here in the Test Zone, Admins or Mods will pick it up and move it to FAQ Section or where they think fit.

Chris.  ;)

:y very very interesting post!! thanks for sharing knew some of it, but learnt a lot!!
one question if i may or two rather?

you say 51mg is close to the limit on standard injectors,
which engine would use same fitting but higher flow rate do you know? do you know?

and how much is left in the standard turbo before it would have to be changed?
did hear that a turbo from a 330 bmw diesel uses the same fittings and would bolt straight on?

thanks PRJ your a star!!

51 mg is ECU calibration limit with the way the pump map is set up in the ECU, not injector limit.
Pump and injectors can do more. Turbo can also do more, it's pretty big for this engine.

It's possible to get more out of it by raising boost and recalibrating maps, but you need to watch EGT's, else you will warp the head.

damn just went back and read it properly!! you did say ecu limit :-X and bigger injectors would be a way of raising lots of power! doh!! thank again Prjj:y yepp know about the egt problems!!
