Title: Clever girl!
Post by: Andy B on 12 January 2012, 15:42:41
I took my daughter for a job interview on Tuesday afternoon ...... http://www.brook.org.uk/brook-oldham  Apparently they'd only phoned her last Friday to invite her to attend .... and woken her up too  ::) ::)
They phoned her this afternoon to say that she 'blew them away' at the interview & she's got the job! First proper interview too. She's no idea of salary!  ??? ;D ;D

We're chuffed!  :y :y :y

Just need to get my lad working now. .........  :-\ :-\

Great stuff mate  :y

Likewise on getting my lad working, he's written to about 12 places now, none of them are interested  :( However he is waiting on a call from BMW to see if he can get in there on Saturdays, but they said they'd ring him this week, nothing yet  :(

Well done indeed, I presume it's the Brook advisory as my works email won't let me see the site. Given what she was doing with Lifeline it's a good avenue to get into the substance misusue field if thats what she wants to do! Jobs aren't easy come by and I know how hard it is to "blow away " an interview panel as I am on them all time. :y

Funny you should mention keep/board. She does work now, behind a bar & waitressing at council owned civic centres, & we'd just mentioned to her before Christmas that she should be out there looking for a job more suited to her uni degree and if she wasn't even looking she should be making a contribution  ;D ;D ;D

Just to expand on that
"Life lessons" dictated the need for a decent amount of "keep"
Plenty of "My friends dont pay that much" with "they dont live here" replies
When they earned nothing they paid nothing
When they moved into their own places we helped by buying essentials, eg pots, pans, cutains etc,etc so they did get quite a lot back and appreciated it
Good luck implemeting that one  :D :D :D

Not sure about the gentle bbit. The 'best bit' though, is that from tomorrow night he'll be back under our roof. Even his Grandma has now had enough of him.  :-X :-X :-X

Well done to her Andy, you have reason to be very proud. I have to interview young people for jobs and trust me, the standard of teenagers coming out of schools has to be seen to be believed (in a very, very bad way)

I know what you mean, and Miss Vamps is only 11, great that she is so confident and secure and self assured, but I foresee some arguments in the future, she seems to manage me quite well now.... ::) ::) ::)
