Title: Duputytrens disease
Post by: Richie London on 12 January 2012, 18:55:15
has anyone ever suffered from this. its in the hands and painful now and then.  I've got to have surgery in 6weeks  to prevent my hand being crippled.  my left hand doesn't open fully look like I've got w*****s cramp. lol it doesn't bother me much but the op has to go ahead.

Richie i feel for you
my father has had this for several years (in fact the bottom picture in the link looks just like dads finger)
As he has had this for a long time so in his case surgery is not an option :(

Good luck with yours ATB :y

I'm a massage man in second job,I can tell you a realistic opinion. The other name of disease is Dupuytren's contractura . Your fistful is contracting continously nobody knows it's reason and there is no cure and surgery not option either.  :( :( :( But no worry if you use manual transmission you can use the gear without any problem except a bit pain...But remember Richie : we are men. Fighting if needed.  :y Good luck mate!   Laszlo

There is an alternative to surgery in some cases,  http://www.dupuytren-online.info/dupuytren_collagenase.html

You are lucky you are getting it seen to soon. I have it as well, right hand pinky nearly 90deg. I went to hospital beginning last year, saw the consultant, yes he said it needs an op, went for preassement etc, they said my BP was high and needed checking for 3 readings, so I went to my GP. Last of the 3 checks was in August, and I waited to be told when the op would be, however I got a call in December saying to come in for a PB check. I did and they told me that they would now send the readings off. But they should have done so 4 months ago. And the surgeon has now retired, so I will have to see the new chap and go through the whole crap again. A year wasted because some clowns can't count up to 3.

That is terrible and how hospitals are now. i was asked to take my notes over to some suite but i refused and told them to put them in internal tray like they used to.  rather cheek
