Title: Pollen filters
Post by: jonny2112 on 12 January 2012, 19:51:02
I know there are two different types, but do they look the same?
Following on from another members thread I thought I would check there was a filter at all!
It looks the same as the one I put in my MFL, and I was just wondering if there should be a visible difference?

Cheers

When new, prefacelift are white, facelift are grey.

When 2nd hand, once leaves removed, both tend to be grey ;D

Mmm... this looks white to me. Guess I'll have to wait until I get the replacement to compare.
Do the newer filters make much difference? Or perhaps a better question - would using an old filter in a FL make any difference, or do any harm?

non carbonised filter in a facelift will send the polution sensor into a tizzy I suspect.

That's what I thought  :(
Hope it won't damage the sensor until I get the filter changed  :-\

Had no complaints from a non carbonised filter in mine :-\ Only ever been given plain filter with the service bits  :-\

I was going to try and blame this for the occasional misting up, but I guess thats not the case  :(

If the pollen filter is wet, it will mist.  If its damaged, it seems to mist up as well, not entirely sure why.

Biggest cause of misting is rear exhaust vents blocked.

Additionally, this time of year, as the A/C may not come on due to low temps, that can cause misting if the car is damp.
