Hi Everyone.
I have a Omega CDX 2.6 V6 Auto.
It has just developed a worrying "thump" when changing up into top gear. This seems to happen mostly when in cruise is set at 32 mph and when it has reached cruise speed. It doesnt seem to happen if out of cruise and driving at normal open road speeds like 40 plus.
I have read on the forum about ECU upgrades etc but not having a technical head don't understand any of this.
I live in the Grimsby, Lincolnshire area and am not aware of any gearbox specialists i can contact locally. There is, however, a Vauxhall main dealer but am reluctant to go there yet for fear of their notoriously costly solution.
Any advice would be very much appreciated so thank you in advance.

Thumping is a classics sign the auto box needs a service.
Although mine only did when engaging gears from park, not while driving.
Get a code reader on it and see of there are any transmission codes, if you get a solenoid related code change that solenoid while servicing the box fluid and filter.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have the facilities to do any of this myself; would i be best off taking it to the main dealer? Any ideas on the cost of a gearbox service?

No idea of cost, but it will be expensive. Why not take a drive to Stoke (if you can stand it) and let Pinky do it properly for you for a fair price. :y
