Title: Heater only blowing Luke warm at 90+ degrees
Post by: Corrado1441 on 15 January 2012, 23:22:34
Hi got into car tonight outside temperature was 5 degrees. Drove for 10 miles and gauge only rose to first mark on gauge (85 degrees ?)
After 12 miles it rose to 90-92.5 degrees.
The problem I had was the air coming out windscreen vents was only warm not hot and temperature on climate was set to high.
I turned the climate control to low and temperature stayed the same Luke warm.
I am also getting no air at all from dash vents.

Am planning on removing climate panel to replace bulbs and check sampling fan but am curious as why engine temp took so long to climb and temp inside was only Luke warm, could the thermostat be acting up ? It was replaced 14k miles ago but that was in 2008 previous owner did very few miles in last 3 years car sat about for days at a time not being used.

Any help appreciated want to get car back to the way she should be

Hi mate,

I have no problem with my heater.

However, I did a 400 mile round trip today and could only get to 85 on the temp. gauge. I'm wondering if I too need a new stat or whether it's the cold weather affecting?

It never went above 4oC outs. temp. today.

when was the water systerm last flushed out, check and see if the water pipe is getting hot into the cab, then check the out coming from the cab. if both hot but not that hot then would do a flush out.

A flush it is then, another thing to add to the list of niggles

if you take the inlet and outlet to the heater pipes off and back flush it can get more of the rubbish out, keep going back and forward between the pipes. when its come clear you done.

But there could be gunk in the rest of the coolant system which will just bloke heater matrix again so would it not be best to flush whole system ??

yes do the hole but flush out the internal heater after as cleaning out can put more muck in it., you back flush to get the muck out the same way it got in there. do it a few times as can get inbeded in the heaters tubes etc.need to take the pipes of the heater line from engine bay.
