Who has the most pokey motor on here then? Also, how did you do it?
Anyone ready with the tumble weed smiley? ;D
-
Historically - Omega (GLS trim spec iirc) with Lotus Carlton running gear.Built by Omegatoy, but no longer owned by him. I believe it lives on somewhere in Cambridgeshire. :-\
None spring to mind currently which have had serious work done on the engine for more power.
-
I'm sure there was someone here with a 2.0 turbo that was producing good numbers, can't think of his name though

Are we saying this has complete LC running gear (3.6 twin-turbo engine, 6-speed manual 'box, etc, etc)? Are there any details of it online or links to it? This has to be the ultimate Q-car!! :y

Got a 2 litre Carlton based trike that occasionally gets the sphincter going if you start "over egging" the mixture.
Haven't got a clue what it will do flat out or what it's 0-60 times are, but I estimate the power to weight ratio to be around 200 BHP per tonne so there isn't much out there that will keep up with it off the line (or rolling acceleration come to that).
Also, how did you do it?
Bought a scrap car with good running gear, obtained a headstock from a rather large motorcycle and had a friend build a box section chassis around it, then simply dropped the running gear in to place. It took 3 months, 100's of litres of homebrew, and quite a few favours to build from start to finish with the final cost of the project being just under £1000.
It's not pretty and it's not really practical for everyday use, but it provides an awesome grin factor and gets you noticed immediately wherever you go. It also has the added bonus of being quite cheap to run with road tax costing £66 per annum, insurance (fully comp with agreed value of £3,500) is £112 for myself with the missus as a named driver, and an average MPG that will remain in the high 30's around town providing you don't go mental with the right hand.

I saw few times this car

I dropped a crashed(wheel had fallen off due to wrong wheel nuts) Mini based trike off at a customer's house back in the summer, and his own trike used a Senator engine. He reckoned that it was 'comfortable'!
My old boss had his dad build a trike, from bits and pieces in the yard, to keep the grumpy old git out of the way. A shaft drive Kawasaki and a Sierra IRS were the main bits, with a lot of work from Brian who was a good engineer. The grand unveiling was impressive, as neither of them had realised that the bike engine turned the wrong way. So, Simon let the clutch out to find himself heading backwards on this hugely unwieldy thing, with the rest of us, who had 'forgotten' to mention the problem pissing ourselves.

I suspect I own the vehicle with the most horse power

I suspect I own the vehicle with the most horse power
If only it didn't need Hornby track ;D
Besides, you know the best vehicle you look after, even if its not Thwaites....
-
If Rats was a member it would certainly be his, over 1,000 BHP 8)
-
Do i understand correctly the most powerfull car owned by a member here is a 4 pot?
-
I'm sure someone on here had a Silver Omega with an Astra VXR engine in it? It had turbo intercooler badges on the front grill and everyone slated him for doing it, but he then showed under the bonnet and everyone went quiet ;D 3.0/3.2 engine aren't very tuneable, a 4 pot turbo is very tuneable, so yes the person on here with the highest BHP figure in an Omega is a 4 pot :y
-
Oh Lordy. Tunnies going to love this. ;D
-

2500bhp of shaft horse power at 750rpm and nearly 24,000nm of torque cant be wrong!
-
There is an Omega in my area that appears on another forum and there are a couple of shots of it on the rolling road on 8/1/12 putting out around 245 bhp. I know this guy personally and it's work in progress to increase the engines performance to the max.Think the car was originally an ex plod 3.2 manual and even without the engine mods I would love to have this car sitting on my drive. :y
-

V6's suck! ;D

Fear not Tunnie, the connection between your four pot and the VXR lump is limited to little more than the valve and cylinder count.
Of course, taking the same approach, we could consider the 2.8 V6 twin scroll turbo which is available with 325bhp ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Shame, I still have my 4pot, but its not my daily drive, I miss it.

Urgent message for tunnie--just been out and tried it on the 3.2,-- now off to local A&E DEPT :o

just been trying something with 3200BHP for short bursts, which is truly frightening even by my standards. Even with 30tonnes.
just wish I could say what it was...

That will be Jay or X3 OXE as he is known on here, the stats from the RR were 244.5bhp and 222.7ft-lbs of torque
-
Ok, not bad. :)
do we know what Jay did to his omega to achieve said output?

Seek and ye shall find. :)

Probably a lot lighter to! although I suspect nowhere near the torque output. :y

He's the Mod/Admin on Omega Owners Network, surely?
@ O/P - my 2.5 V6 (1998 PFL) ran at 215 bhp on the R/R with ABS in 2008. Don't know if others with same engine run more.
Matthew
-
Seems to me owners should be dealing with rear wheel horsepower personally. Leave the flywheel figures to the factory's.
Nice job on the ex plod. :y
-
Yep run 244.5 @ the fly and 212 odd at the wheels.
Spec has changed a bit though, I also had to remove the unichip i got off one of elitepetes breakers after finding out it had a golf vr6 map on it lol.
Will be trying for around 280 next. Cams, headwork and either a map or custom management, then throttle bodies last thing for possibly 300 or so, see how it goes I guess
Cheers
Jay

Once ive sorted the Coilovers & interior etc M8 & I toying with a Supercharger side mounted over left bank using ac belt to drive it or a single/twin turbo setup but not much room for 2 turbos in there unless i bring exhausts forward.... Ummm All in good time!!
Ive A local garage who does rolling roading who fancys a day of power testing??? think its like £40/50 for 2 runs.... i find out if ppl are interested......

Its never been dyno'd. manifolds were never fitted and 100hp would never be gained from a standard 3.0 with them mods. need throttle bodies or forced induction with custom management to reach 300+hp.
I dont do guessing but if the manifolds were fitted it would probably run around 260hp which is still decent 8)

the problem with it was, local plod knew it to well, kept stopping me just look under the bonnet,
insurance was rather steep!!! insisted on engineers report, he wasnt to pleased to see the ecu just poked under the passenger seat!
told him it was for security as it took 10 seconds to remove it, and disable the car completely,
aha he said
no problem it passed then!!,although in the pic you can see the single wiper conversion, he didnt like that,
told him impossible to keep original set up owing to the height of the engine>
but limited mileage was 3k!!!!
could do that in month when playing :y

No point in you having it Seweryn! You're so used to driving your 1.6 MV3 auto, that the power would scare you silly, and you'd end up climbing the nearest tree in it!! :P

There was only driver inside. Cause of the accident was mobile - it had rung and driver was looking for it. Then car went out of the road and stopped on a tree 1m above the ground. The intensity of the hit was that big, battery has flown for over 50m off the car. Driver had no injuries.
