Taking the car and van to France this year.
Europassistance or Red Pennant?
Anyone got any experience please?

Both are no good, you'd be better off leaving the car and either flying or going by train booking a hotel or a eaurocamp site with tent already pitched. Will take all the worry and hassle out of it :y

I believe ADAC do a good deal and cover all of Europe.

i used to work for ontime rescue and recovery in basildon, we had the european breakdown contract at the time, it was done through brittanic rescue, if car broke down and unable to fix theyd fly you home and then arrange for the euro truck to repatriate car and deliver to home address, never heard of any complaints, hope this helps
-
if you are talking about brittania rescue they are no good for european rescue broke down in holland once 20 miles from german border wont take me the 20 miles to german border then stuck overnight in car till 9 o clock to be taken to garage 30 miles away so does that make sense wont take me 20 miles but took me 30 miles back into holland go with aa or rac is better

like everything, always someone who will of had a bad experiance, happens all the time, i got a ongoing case with rac at min, dads combo van broke down on m5 at weston super sludge, recovery driver refused service cause he didnt want to do job, claimed i wasnt me on his report to office cause never had photo id on me, got the van back after brothers missis travelled down and called aa

The one and only time I broke down abroad, it was EuroAssist. Not through choice, it was bundled with the holiday. I'd heard scare stories about them.
But I cannot fault them. They repatriated me, paid for 2 nights accomodation, sorted out with ferry co, and repatriated the car about a week later, albeit with a flat battery. My french is good enough to order beer and pizza, but not ins and outs of car engines. They acted as translators as well. Thoroughly impressed.

When I have an accident in France Britannia Rescue sorted everything from a hire car to repatriating the car. First class service. :y

It's the most expensive of the lot, but you could be right :-\
