Probs best to fill it to the max as obviously when the engine is on the level will go down even more. Never had mine on but always keep on top of the oil

Normally happens on a cruise, when the oil is hot, when its about halfway between min and max.

Always best to keep it just under max :y

Easy peasy then to keep it nearer max, and stop the warning - which is always a bum clenching moment ;D

i know, when it first happened was coming back from fareham after a family wedding, but had checked oil was ok before leaving, was well above halfway mark, just must be a very sensitive sensor then

They **ALL** do it on long cruises when halfway between min and max. Simples.  Just keep it topped up to just under max. Double simples.

Or at 135mph (on a non UK motorway).  Still, the cranksensor gave up about 200 miles later ;D
