:o Thats some journey , all worth it in the end though :y

very much so as the man selling hadnt even mentioned it has the rain sensing wipers and satnav, dog guard, load liner, towbar, reverse park sensors, and a good service history so happy yes and only thing i have sorted so far is rear shocks as when here for a week they were noisy, so have a friend who breaks miggys and got 2 almost new proper self leveling rear shocks for £40 and about half an hour stuck them in, love omegas maintenance simplicity, wouldnt trade them for the world ;D Eric
ps forgot to mention arrived at boat about 7 hours later feeling fresh and not a bother to the motor at all

Omega detailed by a friend Paul who specailise in car detailing
So a fella I got to know from seeing him at our show last year,(who was driving the black Omega with the massive sound system) bought himself a Omega estate or if ur a Bm owner it's a "TOURER" IT'S A 3.2 with a LPG kit.Needless to say it's had a hard life with condition of the paintwork and other bit's n pieces that needed seeing to,so on with the job.........
A full and thorough decontamination consisting of 6 different stage's
1.Foamed & Degreased,a proper snow foam with a little APC for extra bite
2.washed
3.de-tarred
4.car sprayed with a product for removing iron ferrons and fall out (contaminants)
5.rinsed
6.clayed and rinsed,foamed
7.another round of fallout remover (in this case necessary for me)
8.re-foamed and washed
Various brushes used for door trim's,light's,badges, engine bay ect ect, wheel's removed and a different set of brushes used for wheels and arches, along with a medium strength mix of APC (All Purpose Cleaner)

the iron ferron remover dwelling
(http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/blackbeauty888/IMG_0205.jpg)
have load's more but you's get the general idea
very important these
(http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/blackbeauty888/IMG_0207.jpg)

then clayed, not going to bore you's with this, but here are two pic's the cleaner one is after doing just a quarter of the roof, and the second pic is after bottom of the driver's side, just show's even after the other stages that claying is essential!!
car was dried using two big blue fluffy towels and the trusty old leaf blower
(http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/blackbeauty888/IMG_0214.jpg)
Now it's time to see what the real damage is
(http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/blackbeauty888/IMG_0220.jpg)
so that's what I'm faced with, now I spent an hour playing around with different combination's of pad's and polishes,I know for a fact alot of so called valeters/detailers if face with this car, would just go straight in with the roughest polish and a firm pad,to get the car finished in a day,but I DON'T operate that way, incase the car need's to come back at any stage for further work,so I like to leave as much paint/clearcoat on the car as possible
(http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad234/blackbeauty888/IMG_0228.jpg)
this is the test section on the bonnet a whole hour's worth, just to get the right combo

roof rail's were also machined,99% of the time people just put a dressing on these which wears off after a short while, whereas the machine work will last quite a few months

a wee bit of wet sanding needed for these, some one had tried touching in the panel, then put a lacquer over which was sitting proud and nasty looking, the back quarter panel had a deep score so this too wet sanded and brought back up

Stunning mate :y :y
-
that's stunning.......
does your mate do this professionally, and if so how much does he charge??????
-
Hi and thanks for the comments, yes Paul does it professionally, he also sorted out the interior too but i didnt get pics of it and he said the engine was only a minor going over but it looks fantastic as before and after, it took about a week and £250 but very well pleased and will be so much easier to keep now it has been restored to former glory, cheers Eric
-
A credit to you both, looks stunning. :y
-
Hi mate, this post has been an inspiration for me :y my estate is just the same colour and is really needing the same job :D
-
yes the difference is really noticable when the sun shines on the refreshed paintwork, really stands out, and like a gold fleck thru the paint, eric
-
Stunning job :y :y :y
-
That's a very impressive job Eric. 8) :y
-
That does look nice....... :y :y :y
-
Ahhh, you just chucked a bucket of horse manure over it before starting didn't you?....... ;D
Stunning mate, a 3.2, lpg'd Elite estate in a fantastic colour, it doesn't get much better than that :y
Can't help thinking you could have had it done in half the time if you hadn't messed about taking pictures, masking up half and half before/after shots though ;D ;D ;D
Well done :y
-
cheers guys, just shows how good the omega was and still is, practical reliable and not too expensive to keep as an everyday driver, :y :y Eric
-
Hi i guess time could have been saved but Paul wanted to show the results that can be achieved and the amout of crap and enviromental damage that accumulates over the years, Eric
-
And this is the reason for the change of omega to estate, a few more additions, ;D Eric
