Title: Is it traction control
Post by: Andys VXR on 25 January 2012, 22:28:23
Hi everyone heres my problem ive had the car about 3 months now and ive done the usual when you get another car i mean ive drove it nice and drove it like you hate it. Now the other day i thought iv never lit up the rear wheels it was nice and damp so i went for it out of the next junction and NOTHING it was if the T C was on but its not . It lost all power when i pushed my foot into the carpet and as soon as i let of its fine it does this every time this is an  03  3.2 manual ex police just wondering if the police had done something that keeps the T C on all the time.

should be a switch above boot release button,if its pressed it will turn off tc and illuminate the warning lights on dash,if its not turned off and you try to floor it in the damp etc it will cut power and lights will flash saying that its active and stops the rear wheels spinning

if you press the TC button does the light come on ??? to indicate that TC is OFF .. if it does not then the bulb has blown and the light can't flash when the TC works as advertised

vauxhall beat them to it. Traction Control is by default always on unless you press the button to turn it off. If the lights is ON the the TC is OFF .................  :y

when its solid and not flashing that means tc is turned off
if you havnt turned it off there will be no light showing on dash, but it will flash when a rear wheel looses grip  :y

You're not the first to confuse the TC light being ON meaning the TC is OFF ...... I'm sure there'll be more. Not sure why though as when you next get in the car & turn the ignition on, the TC light would be OFF .... ie default to the 'safe' setting. SWMBO's Smart does the same thing, pressing the ESB (TC but with more bells & whistles) switches the ESB light ON which means you can then slide the back without the ESB poking its nose in.  ;) ;) ;)

All in the manual though ...........  ::) ::)
