Title: Current drain - Interior Light Delay Relay
Post by: alank46 on 26 January 2012, 14:40:09
My battery keeps going flat after a couple of days.  I'm fairly sure it is the interior light delay relay having eliminated everything else.  Where is the delay relay on a pre-facelift 3L Elite so I can remove it and see if that cures the problem.  It doesn't seem to be with the under bonnet relays or the ones above the drivers feet.  If it turns out to be that, does anyone have one for sale?
Thanks
Alan

I thought the delay was achieved by the electrickery of the actual courtesy light ..........  :-\

Has powersounder been disconnected yet ?

Always a favourite for battery drain when on its way out

Not sure about the pre MFL but the MFL & F/L relay is the right hand one of a bank of three behind (not inside) cabin fusebox

Power sounder is still connected, so tomorrow I'll disconnect that, and also check the relay position suggested by RobG.  Thank you both.

I think you're talking about the delay relay for the rear ciggy lighter ............. PFL cars don't have that option. They still have a delay on the courtesy light though, which I'm sure is via the lamp itself.

My diagnosis was wrong, it wasn't the light delay relay, but as suggested it was the power sounder.  As it was unplugged the current drain dropped from 180mv to 40mv.

Thanks to all for the advise but especially to Dave DND.

Make sure you replace the powersounder with a new one rather than simply leaving it disconnected

What's the consequence of just leaving it disconnected? I may have a similar issue.

Any ideas why my saloon seems to drain the battery after a day or two and it does not even have a power sounder fitted. ;D ;D ;D

Insurance will usually be null and void - and that can bring on its own problems !!

And for those of you who do not believe this, then tell your insurance company that the car no longer falls within the Thatcham Category one criteria as part of the original equipment alarm system has been removed, and see what they say with regards to cover.
