Title: v6 strech bolts
Post by: paulg on 27 January 2012, 15:41:07: I can probably guess the answer, but Im rebuilding a 3.0 v6 & was wondering if anybody had re-used their rod & main cap bolts succesfully without destroying the engine?
I have used new head bolts, & have access to change the other bolts, but have not seen anyone else selling them, except the dealers.
I have not priced these up yet, but I'm sure they wont be cheap if I have to get them. :-\

Post by: noel on 27 January 2012, 15:50:15: never done an engine rebuild but if it was me i would change the bolts as a matter of course,even though they me be expensive. Just my opinion ;)

Post by: Andys VXR on 27 January 2012, 20:54:42: If your re-building the engine you might as well do the bolts . Stretch bolts should always be changed. Yes they might cost a bit but it will cost you more if it goes wrong after the build. You only want to build it once .

Post by: paulg on 28 January 2012, 10:53:30: I re-used the shells are they were fine, & the rings were of a low mileage motor. Does anyone know the price of these bolts?
