Title: How Much should i pay for my cambelt to be Changed
Post by: mustangboy on 27 January 2012, 17:37:08
Hi All.
Need a Little Advice.
Need to Change Both Cambelt (complete Kit) and water pump on my 2003   2.6 Omega.  its done 94.000 miles and had a belt at 54.000 so is due for Change as just clicked over the 40K on last belt.  I dont have the time or Facilties or Locking kit to tackle it my self so i would like a Guide to how much a fair Price would be for the job to be carried out by a garage.  I Have had one quote From halfords At £540.71 inclusive of VAT  which i can just afford but like most people i would like to get it done a little cheaper :-)
i have it Booked in at My vauxhall dealer Next thursday for a quote but not expecting it to much cheaper than Halfords but i life in hope

Mustang....

DO NOT let Halfords or Vx go anywhere near your car!!!

Get someone on here to do it. Like LD says you can pay someone here to come to you and still be quids in and you get the peace of mind that it's done properly!!!!!!!!

I promise you that Vx ''the experts'' are just YTS idiots and will fek it up!  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

Any one of us mobile mechanics will do it. I'd travel to cornwall, on LPG, at a discount, so well within reason. See link to my website below :y

Mate, seriously... Don't let Halfords change a bulb, never mind a cam belt, never mind a v6 with adjustable timing.
When is it due btw?

In October 2008 I got VX dealer to do it - they messed up and I got a new engine. That protection was worth it - I was lucky though as it blew up within 4 minutes of leaving garage and they did not argue.

i picked a car up from halford in my days of recovery, the person had been in to have new stereo fitted, needed new car when he left as they set fire to the car wiring it in, go there at your own peril

Might be worth giving Derek @ GM6 in Sancreed a call

01736 810500.

he is an independent GM/Opel Specialist who does alot of work on the older cars but is now getting into the Omegas

Cheers
Andy
