Title: THIEF ON THE ROOFS......................
Post by: MikeDundee on 23 March 2008, 07:44:32
.....early hours of yesterday morning (saturday) about 1.10 am was in the kitchen havin a ciggy and spotted a bloke on the rear addition roofs of the properties on the next street. Pinching the lead flashings he was, made a call to the Police, they arrived about 15/20 mins later, with a dog handler an all. But they just missed the bloke by 10 mins. I thought he had got up by the scaffold on one of the properties closest to me, but no he went down off the roof into one of the back gardens.

Anyway no trace of the bloke, turns out theres a kids home this is where he disappeared into, hence why no trace of the bloke.

Estimated cost of theft in the borough eg Southwark is 2 million this includes drain covers, signs, doors handles, lead etc..

Funny how things change the scrap metal market has gone ballistic because of demand from India and China yet four years ago people were dumping old cars on the street because they actually had to pay to dispose of them.

We have just had the lead taken from our leisure centre roof, we found it in a wheelie bin and informed the plod, by the time they arrived the culprits had come back and taken the bin and lead  :-/
