Title: Handsfree kit for an old Nokia, with Clarion stereo
Post by: GastronomicKleptomaniac on 31 January 2012, 16:19:43
I've got a Clarion DUZ388RMP waiting to go into my Omega... I'm happy with the wiring, fitting a cage and fascia, etc... but while it's all in bits I'd quite like to fit a handsfree kit.

I've got a Nokia 5140i, cos I'm modern and up to date like that - I'd like a kit that has a microphone to pop in the interior light, then with the sound in to the stereo - and then sits with the wires in the centre armrest, so I can just plug my phone into it. I'm intending to use the phone to dial rather than any remote control, dashboard-nipple thing which I'd surely break. Equally, I don't want to use Bluetooth, because a) my phone doesn't have it and b) past experience suggests it'll only work when it feels like it.

It's only for occasional use, so it doesn't need to be tip-top audio quality or anything Parroty with a screen, either...

Will the CARK91 work for me?

If you can get a 'pop-port' cradle to take your phone and plug into the cark91 then it should work fine.

When I fitted a CARK91 I attached the Nokia microphone to the headlining just above the plastic trim at the right side of the screen and hid the wire behind the trim to run down into the dash.

Will one of these work, rather than a cradle adaptor? If it does, I can hide the gubbins of the kit somewhere out of the way...
