Title: Thanks Jimbob
Post by: TheBoy on 31 January 2012, 22:29:59
As many know, Silver Bullet failed its MOT on both headlights too high, and not adjustable, and a non working horn.  To me, the headlights were the bastard job, so the one I wanted to start on first.

Unable to get replacement headlights quickly, or even knowing if replacements would arrive with adjsuters in tact, and no reply from the ebay seller yet, things weren't looking good.

However, just after 4pm yesterday, Jimbob texted me saying he had a set of adjusters, and could get them in the post possibly before last post.

They arrived today, and are now all fitted (just need to refit headlights to car).  Not a job I was looking forward to, but all done now, and I have a feeling of relief that it is done.

Above and beyond, Jimbob, thank you very much :y

Just need to fix the friggin' horn, which is making me scratch my head...

Oooh! :o

This reminds me.. There's a set of your headlights with the chap who made the adjusters. He borrowed them to develop them and I was supposed to pick them up ohh - about 2 years ago. :-[

I wonder if he's still got them? I wonder if I can remember who he is and where he lives? ::)

Have you checked to see if you are getting volts to the horn when the button is pressed?

If he's lost 'em, I'll happily take a spare set of adjusters in place ;D (bound to need some on the Elite at some point) ;)

Wiring fault found.

Its actually failed about 5mm from where the wire enters plug on one, and about 2mm on the other.  I have one spare plug at home, don't think I have 2...   ....plan is to solder/heatshrink on new plug with a couple of inches of loom.

I had a quick play with meter last night, but was more interested in getting headlights sorted TBH.  I was getting weird readings.

Looked at wiring diagram late last night, all made sense - there is a permenent 12v to horns, and (oddly for -ve earth car) relay switches the 0v
