Hi
Car cut out and the 30 amp fuse under th bonnet blew
It restarted and is now running very rough and EML is on
Codes 48 and 81 are now showing
Is this likely to be coil pack as I am thinking?

Don`t know what engine you`ve got, but check wiring to #1 injector

Apologies, thought it was still on profile pic
The car is a 2.5V6, 1999
I originally thought it may be the kickdown switch as this caused the 30 amp fuse to blow a number of years ago. I took apart switch and cleaned it the same as last time and car was fine for one day.
When it first happened yesterday, the car would not restart when I replaced the fuse, it just kept blowing the fuse. However, when I removed accelerator cable and kickdown switch, the car ran fine so I assumed that was the problem.
I have now disconnected the kickdown switch but problem is still there

I'm with RobG, I'd be checking the wiring around injectors and in cable tray for damage.

Okay thanks both
Will let you know how I get on

I have checked the wiring around injectors and in the cable tray, and all seems ok
Would a problem with the wiring possibly cause the 30 amp (under-bonnet) fuse to blow?
I cannot find any list of things that this fuse protects
Also, there was a small amount of smoke coming from back of engine when I started it today (Coming from roughly central, right at back of engine)
Any more ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance

Its the 30 amp fuse in the smaller box (not shown) next to that one in the pic

Protects the Motronic ECU

Ok thanks.
Also the car runs on lpg and the indicator in the car is no longer working
Does this mean its a problem with the ecu?

I think I have located the problem.
I have had a better chance to look at it today and have stripped off the plenum to give access to the wiring.
The plastic coating has melted on some of it, so that would obviously cause the shorting out and blowing of the fuse
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the best way to repair this wiring?
There are about 6 wires in total, which lead to the 2 front left injectors (looking from front of car)
I realise that I may need to replace the injector loom in the future. But is there a way I can temporarily repair it for now?
Thanks

You could try insulation tape, if that fails I`ve got the V6 loom from where it connects to the plug at the bulkhead to all injectors

It doesn't look too bad to be honest.
Do you think it is likely that the wiring has worn through causing it to short out and blow the fuse? Or could something else have caused the problem and it may just happen again once I've repaired the wiring?
Sorry for all the questions, just hoping that all will be okay once wiring is repaired/replaced

It`s quite possible as the fault code raised did indicate an electrical problem with one of the injectors

Great thanks Rob
I will let you know how it goes (maybe tomorrow now as I can only work until dark)
Will let you know if I need the injector loom you have too
Thanks

Just to let you know, the car is running fine now
Plenty of insulation tape has sorted it!
Thanks again,
