Unfortunately that's what some people have to do if they want a half decent car :-[ & you'll have to pay what you have to pay for no credit checks.
Which if I wasn't ok at fixing my own car I'd probably have to look at something like this as I couldn't afford a car that needs no work done as I had to give up my job as a class 1 truck driver 5 years ago to help the wife look after our son who has mental health problems, so finance companies just laugh at you when you don't work & only receive benefits.

But if you save what you would pay on the deposit and 4 months payments you could buy the car outright and save yourself £4640 :o

Its one of them. Someone taking advantage of those in a tricky situation. Its like cash machines in some areas in the local shop. They know your probably not able to get to a free machine so charge you £2 per transaction knowing full well that the average transaction is at most likely to be £20.

There's something obscene and distasteful about that – as a matter of fact I’ll go further and say that it’s the epitome of money grabbing and exploitation.

I agree, a bit like some of the quick money adds on TV iirc one of them is around 1750% interest, in small writing on the bottom of the screen that you can hardly read......

Yes, well a fool and his or her money are soon parted, as we know. But I think in these sort of situations, people have to take personal responsibility for their stupid actions, even if the seller/lender or whatever, is a moneygrabbing bastaaard. Personal responsibility.

It may look clean, but........

When was the belt and tensioners last done ?, cam gaskets leaking ?, front bushes ?, etc  all the things we know about. You could buy that and soon be faced with a relatively huge bill for things like timing belt, cam gaskets etc if you were not able to do them yourself.

Very true, I bought an in theory 'perfect' Mig 18 months or so ago, cost me a fortune in 12 months, pxed in September last year...... :(
I am just about to buy the same, but different, car over the next couple of days, same history but will check it out more deeply, not in a rush and very local so can take my time. That said I have committed to purchase subject to checking history etc, have seen and admired the car many times, so fingers crossed :y :y  Car is for swmbo... :)
