Title: Roof mount DVD PLayer
Post by: BridgeyBoy on 02 February 2012, 15:32:00
Hello all.

First post on the forum after finding a few useful bits of info on here for my new Omega - 2000 'W' plate 2.5 V6 estate (facelift) - leather and all the toys for £700. So far, so good!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had tried to mount a DVD player in the roof on these cars? Had one in my old Grand Voyager and kept kids quiet on long journeys. Any advice on kit choice and installation / difficulty welcome!

Cheers

Dave

the vauxhall one is very good think they were an option on the zafira ?  but its getting hold of one is like the proverbial rocking horse poo  :D think it was approx £1000 upgrade and they dont go for much less now 2nd hand  :( and not sure whether the omega has the space between roof and headlining for it  :-\

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Meriva-Roof-DVD-Player-Screen-9268653-/320832873480?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab3212408   heres one for a minerva but a said dont know whether room for it in an omega ?

Depends if you have a sunroof fitted - If not, then the metalwork over the "B" post is ideal for making the monitor base secure, and if you do have a roof, then go for headrest monitors as you will be forever trying to prevent the cables from catching

That was the Autovision, made by Johnson Controls, and they are very easy to come by as nobody wants them due to an abysmal screen resolution and picture - we struggle to get rid of them - Bloody awfull option !!

Becker did one a few years ago with a very tiny "two foot" footplate, and were a dream to install in saloon cars

I think a member called 'Jim' has fitted one from a Zafira GSl to his facelift Irmscher saloon.  Haven't seen the results first hand yet though...  :-\

Last one I "disposed" of on ebay only made around £120 - seldom go for more than that

Seen a few in Omegas with screens in the back of the front headrests. Looked like a nice upgrade.
