Title: 2.2 Petrol Timing Belt Fitting
Post by: Proz on 03 February 2012, 13:35:09
My timing belt is due in a few months so just thinking about putting out some feelers to see if theres anyone in the Fife/Scotland area who would maybe offer some assistance on fitting this for me for beertokens  ;)... I've bought the dvd from the shop but think this is way above my capabilities  :-[ :-[
I can get the Gates kit quite easily and would be looking for the water pump doing as well .
I just dont trust any garage doing this for me after my previous Omega's belt went after 14 months having being fitted by a garage  >:(
Quite willing to travel a reasonable distance  :y
Its only done 22,000 since the last belt change done by Vx but its 5 months or so from the 4 years so i better get it done  :y :y

Proz, believe me when I tell you that with the DVD & a bit of faith in yourself you CAN do it! Just be methodical & think things through before you do them :y

You're not on your own mate. I'm going to be doing this some time this month.

Just keep watching the DVD. I've watched it about 8 times now so I only have to have minimal video assistance when actually doing the job myself ;)

In that case mate you could drive to Stoke and get Daz to do it. I'm sure he'll be along at some point to give you a quote  :y

As a side note, I did read that you can get them off the bay for £100..... then just sell them back on when you done. I think the guy on here even made £15 doing this  ;D
