Finally found a new car, details & pics to follow when I pick it up- but i'm rather happy about it & I promise not to treat this one the same way as the last 3 ::) (that's mainly for Al ;))
Currently have a full nokia kit with the autoleads adapter in a 2013(thanks to daveDND as always- sorry I bought another BOSE ;D ), but the new car has a 2015 with the phone box in the glovebox. Really can't be doin with seperate sim cards for the car, so wondered how easy it would be to remove the phone module & put my nokia kit in? does it wire in the same way via the multipin behind the glovebox?
Will removing the phone affect the HU in any way? I know the glovebox is small, but with that in it's useless!
Sorry for all the questions, but I'll only have 2 days to swap all my bits over as poxy work in the way as usual, so want all the info before I get stared
Cheers all

With mine I put a Voda pay and go sim in the car then copied phone book into it. Put most needed numbers on speed dial. When getting into car I put normal mobile onto call divert to the car number that way I get incoming on normal number with full and legal hands free. And no faffing about with boxes and electrickery. :y
-
Ditto.
Except I use an O2 sim and have call divert on all the time, if I don't answer my phone in 15 seconds it will divert to the car's sim.
No pairing, buttons to press or anything ever.
-
3 problems with that:
I have over 700 contacts & sim max is 250/400 depending on network
Nobody has yet invented a sim that takes multiple numbers under 1 name, so that 700 contacts has nearly 2000 pieces of info (home/work/mobile/work mobile/email/work email)- this is why I have a blackberry & don't store anything on the sim!
Dialling out then becomes a different number, which involves something called "topping up credit" however that works ::)

No, its not straightforward, requires tech2, and loom tweaking. Also requires the cars PIN number. Even then, some of the legends are wrong on the NCDC2015.
On the upside, a depaired telematics has a certain value :y
My MV6, I have the telematics and a Nokia BT kit, with an audio mixer combining the audio. Has extensive non standard loom, as the original radio was ccr600 ::)
My Elite has just a simple Nokia BT kit. I miss not having a Telematics in there, as the Telematics is pretty superior in performance in weak areas.

Ah, don't think I was too clear
Wasn't intending to use the hu in any way for the phone, was hoping to ignore the phone side of it, purely using the exyternal in as per the 2013?
Twiglet says the multipin behind the glovebox should still be there as it was in my existing mig, so the process should be the same if that's all I want?
Signal has never been much of a problem, maybe just lucky where I live/drive regularly
He also feels the telematics unit is of some value- but he wants my car too so..........;-)
Does the telematics need to be insitu to be de-paired before it's any use to anyone or can it be done on the bench without the rest of the car?

The multipin connector is for interface to an external phone kit, not Telematics

Indeed, georgraphy has a lot to do with it!

Yes there are a couple of us are after working ones, I have a pile of them that don't work!

TB and I have looms that allow us to replicate a full in car loom but you will need all components to perform pair / depair work. A paired Telematics is a brick on it's own...
If you want to just use the HU and screen I suggest a visit to TB to depair the items correctly and removal of the Telematics then re-pair plus the swap of the front bezel of the 2015 bezel for a 2013 Bezel.
-
That's what I meant about the multipin, I have an external nokia kit in my current car, want to put that in the new one, and ignore the telematics completley- is this possible?
De pair the the whole thing, remove telematics, then re-pair head with screen? Sounds like a lot of grief unless the telematics is worth that much, TB is quite a distance.
And why would I swap the bezel?? I have no objections to buttons that don't do anything, especially considering the near perfect condition of it, more so when compared to my '13!
-
There is nothing to plug the Autoleads adapter into, if you have factory fit telematics. You need to modify looms.
If you remove telematics without configuring it all properly, it will bitch.
NCDC2013 and NCDC2015 are identical, except legends on buttons. Some of the buttons change function when you tell it its a 2013.

oh crap
But thank you for the simple answer!!
Ok next question then, assume this is something you can do? or is there a guide?
Do you want a working telematics? ::)
And what is OnStar? seem to have read before, but can't remember

None of 'em work IIRC ;D

So the question is, how much to convert my mig, and how much do u want a telematics?
Think I may have an idea of the answer.....

What phone kit are you fitting?
I can't do much for a week or to due to recent events, it lack the agility to be upside down in footwells :-[

Hope it's not serious?
Nokia ck-15w, same as a 7w but with a screen
Screen & navi wheel I can do, along with mic if internal is no good, just need telematics & audio to hu doing.
May as well scan while I'm there, and any s/w that needs updating, depending on cost & time
I'm flat out next week too so is your call
