Title: Open circuit
Post by: greenman on 09 February 2012, 16:07:37
Car runs fine. When I stop low beeping from warning relay.Key in 0 position.Take the key out beeping stops but noticed electric windows now work with ignition off.Could this be the ignition switch leaving an open circuit? Any advice appreciated.

What year/spec motor mate?

On my 98 Elite this is a feature to warn you keys still in ignition (like if you leave your lights on).  Elec windows will continue to operate for a fixed period of time. HTH  :y

02 2.2 CD. The low beeping is nowhere nearly as loud as the one you get if you open the door with the keys in the ignition.(only started a few weeks ago).Already checked for damp and changed the warning relay.

Pretty sure my windows stay live till I open a door  :-\ :-\  Power definitely goes off when a door  is opened though.  ;)

Too wet & dark to go and check.  ;) ;)

Bleeping could be the Ing. Barrel inst coming (popping) out enough when you take the keys out, give it some encouragement next time you take the keys out.

Yep windows stay live for a while...as you can still close them with remote after getting out of car and closing door...as regards the bleeping mine does it if i leave the side lights on and then open the door. :y
