Title: A virus from school
Post by: Nickbat on 11 February 2012, 21:35:04
Master Nickbat got a horrid virus from school last week. Most of his year are down with it, such that they had to postpone the class assembly. Oh, and reception has been decimated, too.

Symptoms are a terrible hacking cough and a fever that just doesn't seem to want to go away. He's still hacking away now, bless him, and he was off school from last Monday through Wednesday, so it's coming up to a week of coughing. At least he says he feels better and the fever has finally dissipated.

But,guess who got it on Thursday? ::) ::)

Talk about grim. All I have done for the last three days is to sleep with two duvets and a hot water bottle. As for the cough, my chest aches from the effort. Thankfully, in the last hour, I have begun to feel considerably better.

Now, Miss Nickbat is feeling unwell.  :( :(

vix vaporub in the chest.. at least 2-3 times a day.. it will stop the virii to settle there..

cough pills (I use sinecod) stop you coughing at nights so you can sleep..

last year I suffered a month and had a real bad time because I couldnt sleep from coughs so I started to use those
pills , really effective..

and you need also rest, sleep and fresh fruit..

wish you recover quickly :y

Thanks, Cem. I think I'm well on the road to recovery, but I'm just about to Google "sinecod".  :y

Pretty similar to what's going around our school!  Happy half term everyone!  Nearly a quarter of our school off with it yesterday. :( :(

Good you're on the mend. :y

I suspect most doctors would take a dim view of a patient walking in and asking for a prescription medicine by name (they'd likely send you packing, if you're lucky with a prescription for whatever they want to prescribe, not what you want..)

And that depends on the rewards the GP get from the drug rep......Hospital doctors / consultants are very different....... :-X :-X :-X

You can buy all those over the counter here, too.. plenty of cough syrup available. Just not the one you mentioned - generally 'stronger' drugs or those which can be used to manufacture illegal substances and/or be abused in themselves are available only on prescription.. (which is why our 'Sudafed' is no longer made with pseudoephedrine - it can be turned into methamphetamine, which is illegal - so now it's made with Phenylephrine Hydrochloride .. meant to do the same thing, but I have my doubts! As do some universities - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenylephrine#Questions_about_effectiveness)
