Died aged 48. Too young to go,and although not my type of music, undeniably a very big talent which was wasted by drug misuse in later years. Whatever the circumstances, a terrible shame. :(
-
Best me to it there pal. Have to agree with your sentiments, and still no idea of the circumstances.
-
That is sad news...... :( :( :(
-
I'm shocked :(
-
I'm just listening to her greatest hits now.... RIP Whitney :-[
-
Whitney was fantastic.
What another sad loss to probably drugs. :'(
-
Quite spooky really, me and the wife were only discussing tonight that we hadn't heard any new songs from her for a long while
-
Well that answered a question, Dionne Warwick was on Jonathon Ross and I thought it was her who had the drug addiction but you've reminded me it was Whitney Houston. I knew it was a good singer who had problems but got the wrong one.
To echo others - RIP Whitney :'(
-
Iirc she was Dionne Warwicks niece. :-\
-
I read somewhere lately that the beginning of her wedding was not too lucky as well. Her husband Bobby called streptease girls to the ceremony... :o :o :o
-
OMG. I can't belive it :o
A sad loss whatever the circumstances that caused it
-
Amy Winehouse,Whitney Houston ...i can see it being a tough year for columbia ;)
-

Sad loss ...RIP
-
another sad loss RIP whitney

It is sad & I do mean it, but I don't have any sympathy for the likes of her as they have the world at their feet, she was so so talented & beautiful had bundles of cash so no worries like the rest of us have, she could do what ever her heart desired & when ever she wanted to, but instead she snorts charlie smokes crack & god knows what else.
I keep hearing on the TV & radio that people turn to drugs as they hate their lives no job or prospects even no roof over their heads but she didn't fall in to any of those, & if her life was so bad then quit don't tour or record just sit back & enjoy your what she worked so hard for in the first place.
Rant over :D

very sad news..
cant understand why these people cant understand the importance of live.. :(
just checked the news .. not any detail.. rest in peace :'(
-
Very sad indeed, she had a brilliant voice. RIP Whitney.
There will be a lot of namesakes in Essex upset this week ::)
-
I think for people from my generation, like her music or not, she was part of those impressionable mid/late teenage years.

Personally I couldn't stand the women. No sympathy here, you make your bed, you lie on it.

Karl, your a bad man ;D ;D ;D
I wondered why the radio was playing all her stuff again ::)
Oh well, another one who couldn't handle life without sticking something up her nose or down her throat :(
Shame she's gone.
She really made her mark in the mid 80's when I was on the prowl round the disco's of the day.
One hell of a voice she had but was sadly looseing it over the past few years :(
Oh well, thats Amy Winehouse now Whitney.
Who's next ?
-
Hell of a voice, which btw I couldn't bare to listen to tbh. But clearly massively talented.
Rip Whitney. :(
-
Exceptional talent and one of the best voices I've ever heard, another wasted life, in the most dangerous profession in the world. RIP Whitney. :(

19 years ago today, James Bulger died.......Whitney who?
-
Sad loss indeed. Unfortunately I think she fell under the bad influence of Bobby Brown and has been on a slippery slope ever since - such a shame.

Quite so FF - but then such news is quite rightly buried deep on the inside pages to make room for that of the demise of such a lauded celebrity.
The scenes of apparent grief displayed by the great and the good at the recent Grammy bash (always a splendid display of intense self-regard by the assembled 'right-on' luminaries) were indulgent, bordering on the obscene.

Agreed Den, couldn't stand her myself, but a huge talent whatever I think. Bit late for the celebs to be jumping on the bandwagon now

Thelma, and Cissy Houston had talent

Removed for bad taste. By me.

Thelma, and Cissy Houston had talent
Bobby Brown was her husband from around 1992 to 2006. He was a pretty good singer himself and had quite a few hits such as Two Can Play That Game and My Perogative. However, he was often in trouble with the law for drugs and violence and I guess inevitably Whitney was dragged down with him.

Cheers Bob I 've never heard of him, I'm sixties soul dinosaur. :y :y
It is often the case where one partner has that effect on the other, Kate Moss and that little junkie waste of space she used to knock about with is a case in point.
-
bit like me and wifey but i do my best under the curcumstances never one to moan just accept being a beaten man :o :o :-[
-
It's sad to hear, although if it was indeed drug use then to be honest I have no sympathy.
