OK Gurus,
i carried out extensive road testing yesterday, as with regards to shuddering/wobbling motion whilst driving, basically you can begin to feel the symptons around 35mph and continue into the 80's (i didnt go any faster), and when braking i noticed that the car shudders ( not a lot but it is noticeable).
I have had previously (a week ago, when i brought it) the tracking done and two new tyres on the front, complete with front wheels balanced too.
So guys, what do you think, have i purchased a lemmon :-[, shes only done 54k nice conditionnlots of toys etc, but i am worried she is gunna cost me a bomb to repair..
looking forward to your input, and if anyone lives around dunstable, who can cast an eye over it for me, i would be greatful :)
Regards

was it just the front you had the tracking done ,or was it a full geometry set up ?? :-\
-
well i dont know know, they put a lazer on each wheel, and he said the front was out by 3 points or so :(
-
did this problem only occur after the tracking was done :-\
just another thought have they tightened wheels nuts up,should'nt happen but can.

warped front discs causing steering wheel wobble on heavy braking?
buckled alloy or defective tyre fitted somewhere causing vibration whilst driving?
i assume you have checked these items since you started the first thread ? :)
-
Hi
I have checked the alloys out, they are fine, i have had the front tyres changed, and when i checked the rear wheels the tyres looked OK
With regards to the discs, would this not have been picked up when the new tyres and tracking were done ?
How do i check the discs

ide check the front discs for scoring and un even wear, under heavy braking if you can feel the brake pedal pulsating as well as the steering wheel wobbling, imho, youve got warped front discs.best to change discs and pads at the same time.. :)
always worth having the back tyres checked for bulges before balancing..
-
i will check to see if there is any pulsating, as well as steering wobble..
So if i get any pulsating, it could be the discs,
If i get steering wobble it could still be the balancing
Anything else,
Will report back as soon as i know

I had an egg shaped alloy that gave similar symptoms. It was only apparent when on the wheel balancer you could see it was out of shape as it was spinning
Knackered wishbone bushes can cause odd vibrations as well , worth having them checked although if you've had a full geo done if was somewhere decent they should have checked those as part of the alignment....
Worn/faulty dampers , also fairly easy to check.
Out of balance wheels are of course the obvious one, if the vibration is felt through the seat its the rears , if the steering wheel is wobbling then its the fronts. You dont generally feel the rear balance issue until you reach speed whereas front balance is usually obvious as soon as you are moving.

OK Eyes down Gurus,
After reading through all the comments do to with my problems with the wobbling etc, i took the car back to national tyres, and had them recheck what they had done, the list is what they found
>Tracking OK
>Front wheels out of balance my 15g & 20g, Rebalanced for free
>Rear wheels, well out of balance, now balanced cost £14.50
>Disc and pads on the front are worn, need to change them...
so we are getting somewhere gents, thanks for your help :y

Front Discs & pads now renewed, drove it home today from work, the drive was lovely :y
-
lovely jubbly... :)

Yesterday, car drove fine, infact lovely, today driving to work, the car is slightly vibrating/wobbling, what can this be... could the suspension be at fault... could it be something simple .... answers on a post card please ;)

Describe the wobble in more detail. Is this a left right wobble through the steering wheel for instance?
-
... And btw, tracking/toe is only one of the 3 settings to be concerned with on the omega. Full geometric set up is required for toe, camber and caster on the front, with
Toe affecting camber on the rear.
Depends how things pan out with faults on the car, but have a look through the guides and FAQ sections for chassis/handling issues.

I just drove home from work, and it seem to be the resenating through the car like a tremmer\ shaking.. There is also a slight wobbling, and mean very slight on the steering wheel, not like it was before I canged the disc and pads over on the weekend..
-
Well, as i drive along, and at around 50mph and upwards, the car gently starts to shiver/shuddering, the steering wheel also but very slightly shakes too. The whole shiver/shuddering thing seems to be under my seat but it may well just be me. :-\
Also when i slow down to 30mph and less, there is a sound like thrumb thrumb thrumb until the car stops, this is not loud, but it is noticeable. :(
I have changed the front discs, which removed the pulsating from the foot pedal, and I thought it would have cured the wobbling sensation, but it has not. :(
I have checked the back brakes, and they seem fine, :) I have even had her on a rolling road and had a brake test carried out and all is good.
I have had the tracking done with laser, had all wheels balanced but she still moaning like all girls.. (sorry ladies)
What could it be next, a bush somewhere maybe… I feel I could be out of my depth here, if I have to start dismantling old Vicky Vauxhall….. :'(
Any ideas guys

is there a humming or groaning noise as well when you have this wobble?
suspect front wheel bearing? :-\
wheel nuts tightened correctly after the tyres were last balanced? :-\
-
No, its more of a thrumb thrumb thrumb until the car stops, but you only hear this below 30mph, yes and the i have tightened all the wheel nuts myself... just drove to the fire station, and i can confirm i have the steering feel as solid as a rock, theres no cluncking or knocking, but there is a slight wobble from the steering but it just seems to travel through the car... :'(
