Post by: greenman on 12 February 2012, 21:34:16
Thought I,d cured previos problems with the interior light.Started up today interior liht stays on(puddle lights out so not door switches)turn side lights on then off, interior lights go out.Tonight interior lights come on by themselves setting off the alarm. Now at a total loss any ideas welcome. :-\

since you pull it to turn on the interior lights and the puddle lights dont come on, I would go straight for a faulty headlight switch?

power sounder/alarm siren located under the driver side scuttle panel, most in the know on this site removed it asap due to its fire starting properties when it goes faulty.

Power sounder has nothing to do with interior lights, and is there purely to prevent unauthorised battery disconnection.

Removed p/sounder as a precaution as hitting 10 years.

no need to remove if working as it should and not beeping at you, also it could void insurance as it is part of the factory fitted alarm system,  what would happen for instance if someone forces bonnet and quickly disconnects battery, or goes through the grill and cuts the battery wire, you have no alarm, what do you say to the insurance investigator, "sorry but i took out my power sounder just in case" "no i didnt replace it"    wonder what his answer would be ???

You are quite correct, however, just as likely to be spotted missing by an Insurance Assessor after the result of a crash - and thats how most are being caught out and ending up with null and void insurance at the time it is needed !!

Seem to be drifting from the problem.

Now when I get in the car the interior lights stay on(waited for the time delay).Turn the side lights on then off interior lights go off :D
P.S. I,ll replace p/sounder when the problem is cured :y
